Just a quick reminder to every Dem in the Senate that, even if your shitbag Republican colleagues are going to greenlight Blanche, ANY ONE OF YOU can still refuse to give unanimous consent and grind this thing to a halt. I'll be watching to see if anyone making fraught speeches today actually does.

You can never just move on from this, even after he's gone. Without punishment and ostracism for everyone who has participated in his crime spree over the last 18 months you can forget it- we're all just treading water until the next tyrant

“.. Trump has leveraged his control of the federal government to instead escape the scrutiny that every other modern president, not to mention every other regular taxpayer, has been subject to.” @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/08/03/b...

What's revealing here is that Iran and Oman are negotiating what is essentially a shared hormuz toll ("service fee") agreement. So the US is moving pretty rapidly to treat a post-war toll system as a given. 'Come up with an agreement on tolls or we'll attack!!' In other words, a massive defeat.

US President Donald Trump is pushing Iran to reach a deal with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz as soon as Tuesday, or face devastating air strikes on the country.

Republicans are trying to make the news cycle about anything other than Donald Trump and his incredibly unpopular domestic and foreign policy agenda. That’s why they set up this Fauci hearing. And everyone is taking the bait

Yup. Stop worrying about what hypothetical Republicans (and media allies) might do. Stop worrying about what they *actually* do, for that matter. Run honestly, be bold, and don't moderate to triangulate. Stop trying to run like it's still 1992.

I love when people argue Democrats need to run to the center by saying shit like, "We need to be careful because otherwise Republicans will paint Democrats as crime-loving commies who want to turn every kid trans!" As if Republicans are not already doing exactly that.

If they are capable of rowing against public opinion like this in order to defend Netanyahu and a far-right perspective on US-Israel relations why do they not extend the same for, say, defense of Americans' rights or for the Constitution and Democracy? (its because they do not believe in those)

again think about the choices that are made in the media to cover Mamdani's call for Netanyahu's arrest as if it is extremist hate speech or an incitement to violence in context of both the domestic popularity and international elite consensus around the issue.

New poll: Americans believe the U.S. should arrest Benjamin Netanyahu by a +22 margin Total: 49-27 Black: 53-13 Hispanic: 52-15 Ages 18-29: 58-17 Harris voters: 74-10 Independents: 55-20 23% of Trump voters agree as well Economist/YouGov:

Bingo. But the problem is that "moderate"/compromise isn't a political philosophy for a lot of these folks; it's a defining character trait, and one that has served them thru their public life. It's not that fighting is anathema to them; it's that they literally wouldn't know how, and can't fake it.

Micah@rincewind.run · last wk.

part of this is intrinsic to moderation as a political philosophy - "we can come to a compromise here" is, by definition, more of a "don't fight" thing - but it's quite possible to hold more centrist political positions while being genuinely outraged at the corruption and horror going on right now

Pointing out Congressional inaction on impeachment is not mean. It is not partisan. It's factual, because we observe their actions. We can either fix this by pressuring them to do their jobs or by voting them all out, but it must be fixed. Soon. Country over party, folks. Demand better.

A reminder that cities used to have terrible air quality like we have today on a regular basis and the current administration continues to actively dismantle the protections and regulations that cleaned that up.

1. Good information and worth a read. 2. This is a direct result of RFK, Jr.'s stewardship of HHS and, indirectly, the FDA, which is itself directly a result of Trump. This only changes by removing these motherfuckers from office. Outrage is insufficient. Demand more from your elected reps.
