We are a Chemical-Biology group investigating DNA structures and dynamics based at Imperial College Chemistry. https://www.imperial.ac.uk/diantonio-research-group
⭐NAR Breakthrough! ⭐ 🧬 A synthetic RNA forms a #G-quadruplex without a G-rich sequence, using a complex 3D fold and GTP as a ligand. This suggests G-quadruplexes may be far more widespread in biologically important RNAs. Read more: doi.org/10.1093/nar/... #NARBreaktrhough #RNA #StructuralBiology
🔬 #Trypanosomes process their large rRNA in a highly unusual way-by cutting it into six pieces. A new study from @schneian.bsky.social lab identified two essential proteins, TbLrRP1 and TbLrRP2, that drive this process. Read more: doi.org/10.1093/nar/... #NARBreakthrough #RibosomeBiogenesis

CUT&Tag reveals unconventional G-quadruplex landscape in Mycobacterium tuberculosis in response to oxidative stress - Nature Communications
In this study, the authors demonstrate that cleavage under targets and tagmentation (CUT&Tag) can be employed to map G-quadruplexes (G4s) in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which may serve as pot...

🧪Move over CUT&Tag, there’s a new #TranscriptionFactor mapping method in town. Our newly developed DynaTag is faster, cleaner, more sensitive than #ChIPseq, #CUT&RUN and #CUT&Tag. 🔗 Our @natcomms.nature.com paper: www.nature.com/articles/s41... 🧵Let’s break down what makes DynaTag so powerful (1/7)
Happy to share our latest preprint describing the first genome-wide mapping of G4s in T.Brucei, led by the amazing Ludovica Monti. We found that G4s accumulate in coding regions of the parasite, causing transcriptional perturbation upon treatment with G4-ligands. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Genome-wide mapping of DNA G-quadruplexes in Trypanosoma brucei chromatin reveals enrichment in coding regions
G-quadruplexes (G4s) are non-canonical DNA structures formed in guanine-rich sequences that are proposed to act as regulatory elements in trypanosomatid parasites, including Trypanosoma brucei, the ca...

Outstanding work, well done Mike it was an amazing day!
It was a privilege to organise the 2025 RSC Nucleic Acids Forum at Burlington House last week - @rscnucleicacids.bsky.social! The NAF has been my favourite event every year, so it was amazing to run it myself! Full crowd, fantastic talks and posters, and a wonderful community 🧬❤️
Thank you for your constant support! @thelisterinstitute.bsky.social
Great paper from #ListerFellow Marco Di Antonio et al. G-quadruplex DNA appears to help ovarian cancer cells activate genes that shield them from chemotherapy. Drugs targeted to these structures re-sensitised the resistant cells to standard therapies. Super work @diantoniogroup.bsky.social 🫶
Very pleased to see that The Observer has written a piece to cover our recent work in Genome Biology applied to ovarian cancer chemoresistance. Link below 👇👇👇 @theobserveruk.bsky.social @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social @imperialchemistry.bsky.social observer.co.uk/news/nationa...

Ready for super-G4s? We have identified clusters of G4s in intergenic regions that act as super-enhancers in ovarian cancer cells, hence the name super-G4! These are de novo super-enhancers that are not underpinned by canonical epigenetic marks, supporting the epigenetic role of G4s rdcu.be/evXtf
Starting off our NAF 2025 meeting with an introduction of the RSC Nucleic Acids Group's new chair, Marco Di Antonio! An exciting new era for our group begins! 🧬 @diantoniogroup.bsky.social
A big thank you to Mike Booth for organising this meeting! We have a great line-up for a very exciting day! Once again we would like to thank our sponsors for their support! @drmikebooth.bsky.social
Our final speaker of the day is Thomas Maher from Imperial College London, presenting his work on the “Interrogation of the nuclear G quadruplex interactome through SG4directed proximity labelling“
