The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled Riley O’Neil’s death an “accident” but in every way it was the result of specific policy and infrastructure choices made by the city. Besides being an indispensable colleague that’s what makes me so endlessly angry.
Our hearts go out to the CDOT complete streets team and all those who knew and loved Riley. We will honor Riley’s memory by continuing to fight for the safe streets he deserved — and that he spent his time in service to our community trying to win.

Anyone who has ever argued against Yimby policy by saying “Chicago isn’t Paris” is banned from sitting in the French chairs at Buckingham Fountain.
If Chicago policy makers are taking inspo from Paris, may I suggest public bathrooms, year-round pedestrianized streets, and 7-story residential buildings everywhere?
