very interesting thing just happened: EWR had a complete ground stop due to “thunderstorms” despite no storms in a 200 mile radius. The only flight to leave from EWR in that window? Air Force One. sure looks like Donald Trump just shut down EWR for 4 hours so he could watch a soccer game!

In 2016 the NYT ran multiple front page stories page about the grave national security risk of Hillary Clinton's server. Today's front page, and nary a mention of the successful "plutocratic coup" (said by a sitting House member) or "constitutional crisis (said by a sitting Senator) unfolding

The press won't treat Elon as the national security threat he is. Part of this is that they have trained themselves to believe he's a genius for a decade plus. Even more is their fear of his scarily effective tactics for marginalizing their opponents. thelastbillionaires.com/musk-got-to-...

A considerable part of why the press won’t scream about this yet is the “toxic normalization” of Elon Musk. He is so powerful that we cannot yet extricate him from our lives, even if we don’t buy his cars or use his website. He was lionized as our Edison da Vinci by the guy who wrote the most popular books on both. Our government has and will do tens of billions of business with him. His upper hand in those relationships and ties to our adversaries, including the president he single-handedly elected, have ensured that anyone who seeks to check him will face brutal consequences.

it’s hard not to feel disillusioned when reporting all the flagrantly illegal and terrifying things this government is doing somehow doesn’t fully break through to the mainstream. it feels like cable news and corporate media made a deal to convince people to keep calm and carry on.
