What a lovely piece of writing about a wonderful writer. My jazz appreciation came of age via Brian's lyrical flow. And what flow. (And he was right about Pharoah Sanders. He was generally right about most things.)

Brian Case died this week. @petepaphides.bsky.social has written the most beautiful appreciation of his work as a jazz writer. It’s wonderful. And this extract is just as profound about why music writers write about music as it is about jazz.
