I think the thing we are all in denial about when it comes to the One Cool Trick to win elections forever is that low info swing voters are basically incomprehensible eldritch horrors to politically engaged people. There’s no understanding them and you’ll go mad trying.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social · 2w agoAside from its many other problems, the idea Fauci was America's power-abusing covid dictator is somewhat complicated by the fact that he never had the power to do the things they're mad about. His recommendations bound nobody and were not particularly rigorously followed by the actual policymakers.
Charts like this one are the most important thing for explaining the behavior of low-info voters.

We have sanctuary cities, but for whom? States like Massachusetts, California, and New York offer essential protections for marginalized people. You can't be a sanctuary for vulnerable people if you don't build the housing they need and can afford.
