The United States is the world's biggest exporter of diesel oil. Trump and the Republicans want to blame Zelensky and give money to Putin. They want to import Russian diesel while we export diesel to others. If you want to decrease diesel exports, put a windfall profits tax on the oil companies.

https://www.visualcapitalist.com/global-diesel-exports-by-country-2025/

The United States is the world’s largest diesel exporter, accounting for a significant share of global supply. The United States exported 1.26 million barrels of diesel per day in 2025, accounting for 15.4% of global exports.

Please take a look at this well-researched & well-reasoned argument by Matt Pawa on why Dems should turn away from oil and gas. He pays close attention to polls & what voters want, and refers to work by @leahstokes.bsky.social and by me. mattpawa.substack.com/p/a-response...

A Response to Robinson Meyer. Why Democrats should reject the latest high-profile call to embrace oil and gas.

The latest in a multi-part series on why Democrats should run on climate.

Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.

Big ups to @katearonoff.bsky.social for covering this seemingly boring but actually really important story about the GHG Protocol. Standards are technical & opaque AND they’re where the politics happen. This is a classic case of “managing tons.” 🧵

Did the Forestry Industry Just Get to Write Its Own Emissions Rules?

Accusations of industry capture, allegedly secret working groups, and the resignations of two researchers—a scandal is rocking the world of carbon emissions accounting.

In addition to the potential unfolding WUI wildfire disaster in Spokane, WA, numerous other large & fast-moving fires (existing & new) are blowing up under extremely critical fire weather conditions & severe drought conditions from eastern slopes of Cascades eastward into ID/MT.

Snapshot from NOAA Wildland Fire Data Portal depicting numerous large smoke plumes and fire heat signatures (red, orange, and pink pixels) across eastern WA/OR, ID, MT, and southern British Columbia.

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
