I'm gonna need animation journalism to start following the $$$ please. Literally nothing you have to report would be as interesting as how things are financed. Those numbers tell us "the why" of a story almost every time. So if, say, someone sold out. For how much?
The animation chat has me thinking one telling thing - in the years since AI arrived, there's not been a ground-up indie phenomenon, like we saw with earlier tech (Flash, etc). It hasn't unlocked anyone's creativity. For all the anti-gatekeeping rhetroic, nothing anyone cares about has been born.
I, for one, am excited about the Machine That Grinds Humans Into Paste to bring jobs back.
When a chorus of fools tell you something is inevitable it's because they have a vested interest in profiting from it. Good ideas don't need that kind of dead-eyed rallying cry.
Go watch a bunch of movies from the 70s and notice how many people and especially journalist tell their bosses or people in power to go fuck themselves. We need that energy back on all fronts.

We cannot harm those deemed “undeserving” without also harming many who are supposedly “deserving.” These false dichotomies serve only the most wealthy/elite. MLK was on point when he said that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We ignore that wisdom to our own peril.

Also, re: libraries... You should all be checking out (ha) the LIBBY app. It's a free app that allows you to get a library card through the app, check out and hold books, and even read them right on your phone. It's really helped with my doomscrolling at night-- my library even has manga! 📚

In animation we hear "We want the next Bluey". The cost of doing business used to be making a hundred shows to get a Spongebob. All the other shows? A lot will still make money, and the talent who worked on them could give you the next Bluey.

You want a lightning strike- fund 20 games. Fund 30 games. Fund so many damn games that maybe you find the right field to be struck by lightning.
When I hear people describe themselves as content creators.
