With Catherine Ardagh's appointment as Minister of State, the number of women Ministers of State is back up to six (Hildegarde Naughton was promoted to Cabinet in Nov 2025). Of the 38 ministers (15 Cabinet Ministers & 23 Ministers of State) ten are women (26.3%) which is below the EU27 avg of 32.2%
6/23 (26%) Ministers of State are women, down from 6/20 (30%) in outgoing Gov. This, coupled with decrease of women appointed to cabinet means just nine of 38 minsters are women (23.7%),well below the Europe & North America avg of 32.5%. #notgoodenough @womenforelection.bsky.social @nwc.bsky.social

My analysis in @irishexaminer.bsky.social on patience, from Heraticlus to Montaigne to Hegel, all in less than 1000 words because no one has the patience to read anything longer these days. Patience is good for democracy, just as tyranny feeds off impatience. www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...
