The only historical dates I can ever remember are the ones that were used as door codes somewhere I used to work.
I'm now trying to think of law firm specific things people should know: Lawyers can't do math Every lawyer has one law tv show that they inexplicably give a pass to while bitching about the inaccuracy of all of the others Lawyers can be defeated with silver

I think this is a key part of why historians are mad, yeah. Because it’s a dunk, and it’s one that like. We all know that scientists and engineers think themselves better and smarter than humanities students. There’s always an assumption that they could do our job but we couldn’t do theirs.
While recognizing that this is partly a reflection of differences between the UK and US models…I do think it’s kinda instructive to think about how this post would play in the world if the author had transposed “history” and “engineering.”
If you cut the roof off of Baba Yaga’s hut it can still run around for several minutes, but this is only a reflex action of the house’s nerves, not magic (as previously believed)
“It’s not pervert glasses, it’s a tiny fuzzy pervert you wear around your neck because you trapped him in a tiny pervert cage. It’s not weird. He likes the cage, if you know what I mean. Now come over here and let him have a good look at you.”
“Everyone hates cameras in smart glasses. But if the camera is contained in a charm you wear around your neck, it shifts the agency. Suddenly, you’re not recording people. It’s just a cute little animated avatar looking out on the world.”

After dinner, Frodo reveals that he’s leaving the Shire. The others reveal a surprise of their own: they’ve known all along! And, they’re going with him. Frodo objects. But Sam knows a further secret: ‘Gildor said you should take them as was willing, and you can’t deny it.’

Frodo reaches his new house in Crickhollow with Sam and Pippin. Merry and Fredegar are cooking while the other three clean up. ‘Sing hey! for the bath at close of day, that washes the weary mud away!’

We talk about the potential Einsteins and Mozarts who will never be recognized because they are stuck as subsistence farmers in a developing country but we never talk about all the potential Jerrys and Darths who will never be recognized because they are stuck in a Teams chat in an All Hands
Smh Tolkien was too busy making up ELF LANGUAGES to create a typology of NUMENOREAN ARCHITECTURE.
"Is Minas Tirith brutalist?" now that's where things get interesting. It was also a Numenorean construction so presumably it was built with a similar architectural style but fan interpretations/adaptations generally lean towards Classical or Gothic.
Discourse topic: is Isengard brutalist?
