Axcan quema, tehuatl, nehautl…

The most common outcome of a report to Title IX is that nothing happens. That’s by design. According to school policies (and now, Trump’s 2020 federal regulation), a report is just a way for schools to receive information about violence. It does not require any action from the school.

As a survivor of sexual violence, this shit is triggering as fuck. As a professor who has witnessed, reported and watched how the university protects predators, I’m just done. But when you have a predator in chief, what can you expect. Fuck all this. Honestly. Too much.

My ex-husband is one of the rapists at Aella’s simulated rape orgies that John Wentworth, Nate Soares, and I’ve heard Eliezer Yudkowsky also attended. He was an emotionally abusive partner and, until I left EA/rationality, he used the cult to keep me trapped. Journalists please DM.

Again, journalists, what are you doing?👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 The most mind blowing thing about these people is that they are so out in the open with their eugenics & predatory cults. Epstein wasn't as out in the open (at least from what I see now). Everything is right there for you to expose them once & for all!

In case anyone else needs it, the magic phrase for shutting down men picking apart a sexual violence case by blaming victims is: “The only people who would say something like that are rape apologists, rapists, or both.” You don’t have to argue with them on merit when their claims have no merit.

Yes, but frats are still the very best place to start. Frats are where boys become men. And specifically, some of the most powerful men in our society. They are arguably a lot more influential than most of the other men’s orgs in this list. Banning frats will open the door to banning the others.

This is a really good thread that gets at something I alluded to yesterday but didn't flesh out as Bedera does here: that you can ban fraternities, but if you don't take on rape culture, sports, clubs, informal social networks will do many of the same things as frats.

A core part of the problem is that parents want their sons to be able to access male privilege more than they want to stop sexual violence. You have to let go of the fraternities. And the men’s only athletic teams. And any other boys clubs.

The way the Cornell victim is being publicly disbelieved by a lot of journalists, officials, and online posters is also a warning shot to every other victim not to dare to actually pursue a case against your rapist lest you suffer the same fate. It’s a means of protecting the status quo

We live in a society that punishes people who are assaulted. We question them, we shame them, we disbelieve them. Many survivors instinctively do that societal work for us. Survivors question themselves, they shame themselves, they don't believe their own version of events. We've trained them!

Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

Just as we've seen in the discourse this week, institutional betrayals of survivors by universities are usually met with thousands of people saying, "Why didn't she just go to the police?" And this is (part of) the answer. The police betray survivors just as consistently as universities do.

One of the reasons that researchers suspect police react to sexual assault disclosures that way is because the rate of sexual violence perpetration among police is much higher than the general population.

The primary problem is the culture of policing itself. Police hugely overestimate the number of false allegations. They don't listen to survivors' statements as much as they try to poke holes in them. I watched this firsthand for years as a hospital victim advocate. It's gutting to witness.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: US police actively prevent consequences for rapists by hitting victims with a wall of demoralizing hostility and skepticism, and then using their institutional credibility to undermine victim testimony and sabotage evidence and process steps.

Survivors often report to their schools because they need an intervention and do not want police involved. And they have good reason to distrust them. The criminal justice system is another common source of institutional betrayal.

With his finger on the pulse of the US zeitgeist, Presidential Wannabe Gavin Newsom wades into the fight against rape on the side of ....the rapists. I cannot explain to you how hard I will NOT VOTE for this man. If you put him on the ballot, you will lose

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday sought to rein in a wave of legal claims that have pushed some local governments and school districts in California to the brink of bankruptcy, after earlier laws made it much easier to sue over child sexual abuse.

Everyone’s gonna memory hole this like they do her racism and antisemitism but this is your regular reminder that Joyce Carol Oates fucking sucks and just because she sometimes makes a funny tweet doesn’t erase how much she fucking sucks.

What the fuck, Joyce. I don’t even read romance novels but this kind of thinking pisses me the fuck off. It further pushes that mentality that some books as “lesser” which is bullshit! All books count!

Joyce Carol Oates
This is why Al-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn't need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine "writes" it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to different consumers.

Ah, I see we're back to the "Democrats are actually lying about what they believe in order to win elections and as soon as they gain power they'll act and vote more progressively" delusion. That's an oldie but a goodie. We've never seen any evidence to the contrary, I tell you what.
