This is true. I would argue being midlist isn't bad, except, even reaching that point is hard. All you can do is love your work and stand behind by sharing as much as you're comfortable with. You might have a smaller audience than you'd dreamed of, but every single reader you reach is a win. 💙📚

My biggest frustration with writing is that quite often, the SWOOP that takes a book from midlist to BIG DEAL is pure luck, and I personally can't do anything to make it happen. Publishing is not a meritocracy. It's skill + time + luck, and all you can do is be in position for possible liftoff.

I’m just one sale away from making this 49 into a 50 this month - and those sales were all basically at the start of the month cos it’s been sloooow since then - so today is a perfect day to buy one of my books if you’ve been thinking about it! ;)

I've been struck by writer's block so hard recently, my only goal is to actually get some writing done this week. If we're feeling really frisky, to get done with this scene that's been killing me. Wish me luck! #WritingCommunity #LGBTQWriters #QueerWriters

So while I was at the convention, my basement flooded with at least four inches of water. Thankfully my neighbors hurried over with a utility pump to help get the water out, and my friend Kya helped me haul the ruined carpets out and towel down the floors.

As we seem to be talking about AI again... I wrote this last year. It's about why I don't use generative AI (for stories or for covers, etc.) but also why I think you're doing yourself a disservice as a creative if you do. You deserve better, quite frankly.

Why I don't use AI - Alex Pendragon

Periodically, people ask me about my opinions on romance and erotica, what it’s like to be someone who releases books, and writing in general. Honestly, I seldom feel qualified to answer with any grea...

🐉Arkay has a ridiculously high strength and dexterity score, but her dump stat is definitely wisdom-- she's still learning and gaining experience. Meanwhile Rosa's highest stat is charisma-- she can convert anyone to her side through compassion-- but she's not so great in physical prowess

🔥Irora has an entire police force after her. She's abetted by a mob enforcer and a shapeshifter, she's impersonating innocent people and causing massive property damage and endangering lives. 🐉Arkay is the Contessa's villain: she's upsetting the delicate balance of power that took decades to build

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters Is your protagonist someone's villain? I imagine they've made some enemies, inadvertent or otherwise. Tell me about one and how the protagonist appears from their perspective. (Avoid the big bad if possible) #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

I tend to start with their role in the story and get to their voice and mannerisms next, and the personality flows from there. I'm actually faceblind, so I tend to have a hard time picturing my characters beyond certain Noteworthy features. #AwesomeCharacters
