Lit Crawl folks, who’s reading during Phase 2 and 3 this Saturday? I wanna come see you! I’ll be reading at Red Poppy Art House during Phase 1, then trying to keep the fun going. xx

One more cover reveal! Here is the very cool UK cover for my novel THE FIST OF MEMORY which comes out in just about 2 weeks! Its great to see these characters that have lived in my head for so long finally illustrated and real and making their way to your bookshelves as we speak.

I’ll be reading from a twisted Koschei the Deathless fairy tale that won F(r)iction's writing contest and that I’ve (somehow??) never performed aloud. Hope to see you!

SF, Bay Area: Join us for a literary tea party on Oct. 24, the night of @litquake.bsky.social's legendary Lit Crawl! Writers w/ roots in Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, and the Armenian diaspora talking all that's difficult to say & nearly impossible to translate. litcrawlsf2026.sched.com/event/2WLkJ/...

Event graphic features black and red text over a white background reading: "Spill the T.E.A.: A Tasting Menu of the Untranslatable & Unsayable. Lit Crawl San Francisco. Sat, October 24th, 5–6PM, at Red Poppy Art House (2698 Folsom Street)." Photos of the authors appear under their names: Evgeniya Dame, Ksenia Lakovic, Maggie Levantovskaya, Masha Rumer, Jen Siraganian, Irena Smith, Kristina Ten, and emcee Yuliya Patsay.

Man, I don’t talk about this too often on here but it really is exhausting + demoralizing + humiliating to be chronically sick in America. Some days I’m certain I’m going to die waiting for someone to take me seriously and/or treat me like a person and today is one of those days. Hugs if you get it.

Hey there. Some news! Contract's signed, so I'm happy to say I'll be back in the pages of @clarkesworldmagazine.com with a novelette, "Ludd Kid." Instant gratification. Indecipherable movies. Family estrangement. People that aren't people. Things slipping into decline. The usual light-hearted stuff.

I just googled the origin of the pinky raising while drinking tea thing and the only thing I am certain about is that there are about nineteen separate myths about it.

an interesting and, imo, important read. what does capitalism begin to consume (and/or accelerate its existing consumption of) as it exhausts material avenues for expansion? how do we (as workers, as storytellers) push back?

A screenshot of a section of the article reading: "So when you drink a few Monsters or Red Bulls, you’re still getting physically and mentally fatigued; your brain just doesn’t know it yet. It’s as if, instead of using an oven mitt, you just shot your hand full of Novocaine before grabbing a hot pan. The harm is still there. And in economic terms, this means that every time you work a long shift with chemical assistance, you’re not just selling your working hours to the boss. You’re also degrading the quality of life you’ll experience during your non-working hours, because that’s when the fatigue catches up to you, and you feel, to use the scientific term, like dogshit." The last one and a half sentences are highlighted.

Around the world, people are pumping themselves full of caffeine, amphetamines, and other performance-enhancing drugs just to survive their working hours. This isn’t sustainable. www.currentaffairs.org/news/a-socie...

Personal hobbyhorse, but thinking about AI in publishing is really making me want criticism to go harder on discussing the actual style & substance of books. If we just talk about plot & vibes, we're leaving the door totally open, & missing out on the good stuff besides. "It's just words on a page."

I think the same way there used to be smoking and nonsmoking cars on the train, there should be designated BART cars for people who are just gonna talk about AI the whole time cuz I don’t wanna hear that shit
