Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

Hearing some disappointing examples of distant and uncaring, toxic and unpleasant, or controlling and nitpicking management styles in the charity sector at the moment. It takes time and effort to manage in a constructive and situational way. But the alternatives will hurt you and your team.
Twice this week, the water butt has been refilled by the rain showers. So we're now playing the game of using the water ahead of the next shower to avoid damp. And watching to see if the grass is actually returning to it's usual soft green state. This is summer #ukweather that I'm used to!

The age of centralised social media had us convinced that constant growth and the whole world in one big public square was the goal. In the end, that and monetization (and political weaponisation) led to the mess that Facebook and Twitter are now in. Bluesky needs to be viable, not massive.

This is a new era of midlife for me - becoming obsessed with the sweet mustard ketchup and pickle relish pots used in recent Gousto meals, then tracking down the supplier to order them direct. Tracklements have limited retail reach but a website to order direct. Success!
So, I went out with the dog for a walk. It rained. A couple of weeks later, I put the washing out. It rained. We need rain! Perhaps I should arrange a picnic with friends to bring on another spell of rain...

Yes my jacket is wet and the dog had to be towel dried after coming home early, but I'm happy. It's raining, and it's been raining for more than 15 minutes now. Willing it to be in Dulwich and wetting down the forest and coastal marrams. It's tinder dry here and that's dangerous.
63 grass fires in one day. That's the challenge London's firefighters faced yesterday. My thanks goes out to them for all their hard work. We all have a part to play in reducing that risk. Keep sparks, cigarettes and anything hot well away from dry grass. If you spot a fire, call 999.

If you are not an old, I have to tell you that the web was so exciting because never before in human history could anyone* just post whatever they wanted anyone else to access from anywhere* on the planet 24/7. And you could do it from a school/library/cafe, cheap.
Some things aren't meant to be 'hacked'. Not everything is supposed to be 'optimised'. You don't have to 10x everything you do. Plan. Listen. Design with safety and inclusion first. Build carefully. Scale with intention. Review and reflect. The walk is the walk. Take your time.
Sometimes small things aren't so small. This week I bought my first work laptop. I started freelancing in 2021 as a side project and used my personal laptop. It started going slow, losing charge. Then video meetings had issues. I've had two good years to build a reserve fund to buy one. So I did.
