Non-trad college student, parent of a Highschool sophomore (!?!), married to a game dev. Huge nerd.

Every time someone has asked me about making stories that are scary for children, I remind them that it's actually the safest way to experience and practice feeling fear. Would you rather the first time your kid feels fear be when they're watching a movie or when something *actually* scary happens?

‘Big City Greens’ storyboard artist Gabi Rodea encourages parents to have their children see ‘Wildwood’ for its mature storytelling.

I just dropped my 15 year old son off at his first Highschool dance. I don’t post pictures of him on social media, so you’ll have to trust me when I say my kid is out in the world looking SHARP.

An EXTREMELY selfish Kickstarter in that I'm just making the editions of these books that I've always wanted—cannot put into words how much love and care we've poured into every aspect this project!📚🩵 ...and it's no accident that @gilespink.bsky.social now has a writing credit on the Book of D'ni 👀

It’s my first day of school at the big new (actually very old) university and it’s also my wedding anniversary. On the way out the door just now my husband called out “have a good day at school!” Yall. I like him a lot.

Almost every single student who has found me this week wants to talk about AI. A couple reflections. One student has taken three AI courses in philosophy, health sciences and comm. They’re basically the same class. As it turns out, it doesn’t take a lot of classes to “learn” ai.

This is why I get so annoyed with university admins who insist we must teach AI or our students will be left behind. Fine, then require one class and leave the rest of us alone. (After about two weeks in the class, they’ll be like, “shit, what do we do now?” but that’s not my problem.)

My folks are downsizing and I was so happy to take a milk crate of vinyl off their hands. We used to listen to this one a lot when I was a kid and it still holds up. 1980 was just a couple of years ago, right?

Dust jacket for vinyl record. “Kenny Rogers Greatest Hits” 1980.
