Tomorrow, on October 1, the biggest transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy hits a critical milestone. Many of the provisions from the Big Ugly Bill will go into effect, harming hundreds of thousands of Michiganders in order to create tax cuts for the richest people in America.

The Stallone interview in NYT is worth a read. It’s long. I know Stallone is basically “cancelled” by all y’all, but considering what a force he was for shaping ideas of masculinity during the 80s——this interview is a pull-back-the-curtain look at that fabricated masc icon.

A great deal happened today. But nothing more important than this. SCOTUS allows Trump Administration to continue sending detained migrants to third countries with which the migrants have no prior connection. Just appalling.

Pittsburgh's Bloomfield Starbucks was a center of union organizing -- so the company fired them all and shut it down.

Some ppl say the US “is not out in the streets every day” like Albania or Georgia: But we ARE protesting every day. Daily rush hour protests, weekly overpass protests, weekly organizing "behind the scenes,” etc. Reminder that USA is spread out & spends more time in cars than in town squares.

I learned during DJT 2.0 that I sleep better at night when I give my money to mutual aid or the ACLU & repost my preferred politicians, rather than giving $$ to pols & reposting mutual aid societies & the ACLU. You've probably noticed it, too. Money isn't always the winning thing for good pols.

Finished writing the GOTV postcards to Michigan, next up is Maine! Together we can get through this election. Let’s all do our part. Do something to GOTV, & don’t spread fear, panic, or doom about the election.

Republicans won in 2024 arguing Democrats were too obsessed with trans people to focus on the economy. As billionaires like Elon Musk flood the airwaves with anti-trans ads amid Trump's own floundering economy, Democrats have a chance to flip the tables. My latest for @thenation.com

Transphobia Isn’t Winning Votes. But It Is Making Our Lives Much Worse.

Trans people must now live out another election cycle knowing our friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors are being flooded with agitprop designed to dehumanize us.

Pay attention Dems. Gov Beshear won twice, in a deep red state, and never threw trans people under the bus. He led with compassion rather than the fear and cowardice we've seen from some of our Ohio candidates and party leadership.

NEWS — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear criticizes fellow Democrats who say transgender athletes should be barred from women’s sports. “That is not the party that we are. We start as a party of compassion and empathy.”
