Having grown up in Wales, I can testify that if you are actually worried about your culture and history being under threat, the thing to do is write poetry and songs, perform plays, tell stories and organise festivals, not just sit around whining.

I have a few situations in my life at the moment that make me worried, but I'm wired to catastrophise and so I'm trying to adopt a new mantra that is "I don't as yet have enough data to know about this". My Dad would have approved.

Where does ‘Authentic Folk Voice’ originate? You hear it all the time on telly when they want to make some countryside footage feel old and authentic, I’d assumed they got it from some sixties folk types singing in their local accent, but Martin Carthy (for eg) is from Hatfield.

For 'professional' reasons, I am a member of lots of small town Facebook groups. This bloke has been appearing in towns across Sussex (Horsham, Redhill, Crawley, East Grinstead) with no apparent explanation. This is precisely why I stay subscribed to these groups.

I'm looking for a figure that shows the order that English words are usually in. I know there was a post on here or the other site years ago, I think for ESL learners...anyone have that? I'm teaching a writing class and that would help a couple of students. TIA!
