I went to City Council today with friends from @sierraclubchicago.bsky.social, @betterstreetschicago.org, @bikegridnow.org , @strongtownschicago.bsky.social and others with a clear message: we deserve NITA Board members who ride transit. But that’s not what we got from @mayorofchicago.bsky.social
I am disappointed to hear Roberto Requejo was not reappointed to the CTA Board. I’ve always found him to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, and passionate about improving transit. His expertise and leadership would have been invaluable as we work to bolster the CTA.

As far as I'm concerned, he can consider himself one of the inspirations for the reforms he loathes. His one job was oversight, and he refused to do it – and there have been serious consequences.

NYC DSA has a level of organizing and electoral work that is clearly leading to working class wins all over the ballot. This is the strength of coalition building an a leader like Mayor Mamdani who centers government in what it can deliver, while building relationships that lead to more wins.

We need protected bike lanes in large part because the vast majority of drivers refuse to actually check if they're clear to open their door. Charge this driver with manslaughter, some kind of reckless endangerment at the very least

The price we pay of inaction on safe streets is in the lives of our neighbors. It’s unacceptable, and I am sick and tired of the endless devaluing of life for the convenience of drivers. My heart goes out to this person’s loved ones. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Last week, Chicago ICO took a group of students from Hubbard High School to Starved Rock. What an honor to get to introduce them to this wonderful place! We explored St. Louis Canyon, enjoying many of the early spring flowers, and a full waterfall in the canyon itself. 🌾☀️
