I found the NYPD tow pound in Red Hook where they store thousands of seized illegal mopeds.

If civic nerd comedy is your thing, boy do I have a pack of nerds for you. Looking forward to shitting up @charlietodd.com's show next week:
Green wave signal timing is a game changer. It’s win-win-win. Bikes going 15 mph can go endless blocks without stopping and therefore never run reds or speed, cars slow down to a safe speed and also hit every light which is faster in the long run, and pedestrians reap the huge safety benefits.
The magical effect of the Green Wave, visualized as if it were an NFL first down marker
The number of people at the Knicks parade today were roughly equal to the combined population of Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, Montana & Alaska. So if you heard about any issues in NYC today, but not about any crimes in those states, you know the agenda of that media.
What a vibe shift from the last two mayors. He really gets what makes this city, or any city, great.
Mamdani on Knicks watch parties: "This city is unique is that you can walk across the city. You can actually be outside and not have to drive everywhere, and part of that does give rise to these opportunities to be with people who you don't even know, never met."
Got to tour Astoria’s world class bike lanes and open streets with @misernyc.bsky.social yesterday. Then after the Knicks game I biked around on a Citi Bike for two hours and watched New Yorkers pedestrianize every street in midtown.
We will know we've won when everyone lets their kids ride bikes without fear. Also, my family was nowhere near as cool as @charlietodd.com's growing up.
A local politics round table at a comedy theatre? Come see @katiehonan.bsky.social (THE CITY) and @mikescollins.bsky.social (Seth Meyers writer) discuss the latest NYC news and controversies at UCB Theatre this Thursday at 7. $10 tix: ucbcomedy.com/show/not-in-...
This is the only way to get better bike infrastructure and maintenance. The people in power have to actually bike (and not just an annual photo op)
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, biking in New York City. 🙌💪👏✊️👇
The mighty M11 bus taking passengers down 9th Avenue during the blizzard this morning in Manhattan.
It's been three weeks since the storm. Shovel out these cars, tow them, and turn the space into bike parking, public seating, on-street garbage containerization, bioswales... anything other than car storage would serve more people than this.
I’ve seen a lot of sketchy parking placards on the streets of NYC, but this Trooper Surgeon “on official medical business” may be the funniest. “I can park wherever I want in the middle of Manhattan because I’m giving State Troopers botox” is next level.
Escape your parents home, go for a walk, and listen to us gab about New York City news and politics. We go deep on Santacon, outdoor advertising, street parking, and how YIMBYs were the big winners in the Mamdani/Trump meeting. Featuring @anildash.com!

There's been an increasing amount of NYPD vehicles on Central Park walking paths lately. It's beyond me why they think it's a good idea to "patrol" Bethesda Terrace by parking an SUV and idling. Or why they to drive on the paths to use the restroom at a playground.
You may not agree, but I think it’s time for Dems from coast to coast to run on Medicare for all. We do NOT need health insurance companies at all. Period. They serve no valuable societal purpose other than to add cost to healthcare and drive people crazy.
I’ve lived in New York for 24 years and have never been canvassed before these two nice men knocked on my apartment door this afternoon. The Zohran army is real, and the fact that Senators Schumer and Gillibrand are sitting on the sidelines is not going to end well for them.
Bike parking shelter on 17th Street by Union Square. The giant bike network map is a nice touch.
I am very excited for a mayor who has thousands of Citi Bike miles under his belt.
It’s pronounced cyclist.
The long-awaited separation of pedestrians and cyclists on the Queensboro Bridge falls just short of greatness, as DOT has yet to update the lane markings and add enough wayfinding, five months after Adams unceremoniously kicked cars off a shoulder road. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/10/10/e...

Call it getting stuff almost done.

The man in blue is biking on the wrong side of the two way bike lane. He doesn’t know this because @nyc-dot.bsky.social hasn’t changed the outdated markings on the ground, over three months after they moved all pedestrians to the other side of the Queensboro Bridge. Needlessly dangerous!
I passed a rare 20 mph street today in the Queens neighborhood of Corona. Advocates fought for 10 years to get Albany to give us the right to set our own speed limits, and one year later we’ve lowered it to 20 on just a handful of roads. Our next mayor should quickly roll this out in every hood.
34th Ave in Queens is just spectacular. 5 years ago this was 4 lanes dedicated to the moving and free storage of private vehicles. Now it’s a park that stretches more than a mile and connects multiple schools. And it’s a great bike connector from Astoria to Flushing Meadows.
