Not long ago, something like privacy was thought to be a human right or even a default state of nature. Your likeness was considered something sacred, something your own. By the end of this century, it will be a boutique experience for only the wealthy.

NEW: I wrote for MSNBC about how Madison Square Garden turning off their facial recognition cameras for Taylor Swift is a perfect encapsulation of our dystopian present: where the wealthy can use surveillance to consolidate power, and the rest of us live in a privately owned panopticon.

Money can first and foremost buy you not being in poverty, which is obviously good, and it can also buy you a nice house and related bullshit which is certainly nice, but it straight up cannot, as we’ve all seen in every piece of art or history, buy you happiness or love and that’s a big lol, lmao

as a capitalism hater, it’s kinda satisfying the richest guy in the world is just another wretched, annoying nerd. And extra points for him being a racist paranoiac who’s never known friendship or love and must publicly, pathetically, and futilely scavenge the most vile parts of the internet for it.

It's honestly maybe a point that we should be making more regularly. Trump, Musk, J.K. Rowling- they are all perfect examples of "capitalist success" and yet they are all miserable all the fucking time.

Every single evil American loves Israel because they are this weird mix of our horrific past, crumbling present, and dystopian future. They long for it and relish it and pine for it all at once.

Bullshit framing 1. Her critics aren’t “cool kid elites.” Her critics are exactly the kind of people who would embrace an awkward goofball weirdo if they fought for the working class 2. Ppl aren’t making fun of Michigan. They’re making fun of her for being a dumb poser endorsed by the ruling class

"Cool kids on the Internet. They're doing the cool kid chatter. Some of 'em might be the coastal elites, making fun of how I talk. But let's be real. They're making fun of Michigan. They're thinking they're better than us. Their jokes, their criticism, only make me fight harder." -- Haley Stevens

The default position of an American politician is that you’re going to be even crueler to these people, that they’ve had it too good for too long. It’s jarring to see someone in power treat them like human beings, and frankly, that’s probably dangerous to the ruling class

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@mayor.nyc.gov · 3w ago

The beautiful game. The people’s game. Throughout this World Cup, we have been reminded of a simple truth: football belongs to everyone. So does the joy and community it creates. Yesterday, I joined New Yorkers on Rikers Island to watch England take on Argentina.

a coworker of mine died and I walked up to the casket at the wake and smushed my finger into their cheek just to see what a dead person felt like and it didn’t feel weird or disrespectful because nobody liked this person anyway. So thanks for making me remember that cool thing I guess.

My hot take is that Lindsey Graham did many contemptible things but if you’re furious that his Senate Democratic colleagues are posting nice things about him today you need to put down your phone, get some fresh air, and remember a time when a colleague you disliked departed this mortal coil.

we're in a literal war with these people. and theyre literally murderous, committing (intentional, violent) murders at industrial scale in the caribbean and iran to name just two theaters. theyre also shooting your neighbors in their cars it's just the facts. it's their policy. they declared it

Lindsey Graham got the diarrhea and died. "There was nothing left when he was done," said an aide. "Now we have to try to put the diarrhea back in so we can bury something three dimensional," he added. RFK Jr. is going to give kids in school diarrhea to honor Lindsey Graham and make them stronger.

Mainstream Respectable opinion is that people joking about a bad person's death represents a culture of cruelty, but really it represents a culture of impunity. It's a coping mechanism for watching someone do evil their whole life and never seeing consequences

Great day in DC. Drinking a $25 glass of raw milk and listening to a Drowning Pool cover band. Earlier, Steven Crowder asked me to body slam him while he was dressed like Greta Thunberg for some reason. Again! Again! He kept demanding. EPIC!
