As the lead trade body for the hospitality industry, UKHospitality represents every corner of the sector.

I’ve met with many people from Liverpool’s hospitality industry who’ve shared their concerns about the serious challenges facing the sector. Alongside @emmalewellmp.bsky.social & @ukhospitality.bsky.social, we’ve written to the Chancellor urging her to protect & support this vital industry 👇

✍️ I have written a letter to the Chancellor with the support of party colleagues and @ukhospitality.bsky.social, calling on the Treasury to protect and support the hospitality industry in the upcoming budget. You can read our letter to the Chancellor below. 👇

"Why is it that a cafe is paying more tax than a big bank? That's ridiculous." The tax burden on hospitality is unfair and causing businesses to be #TaxedOut. On BBC Breakfast, our CEO Allen Simpson emphasised the need to lower business rates, fix NICs and cut VAT.

This afternoon Peter Bedford MP led a Westminster Hall debate on the impact of the VAT registration threshold on SMEs. Peter reiterated our call for a cut of VAT to 12.5% for the hospitality sector to keep prices down, support the high street and benefit customers. 🎬👇

“It’s clear that economic warning signs are flashing and the impact of April’s cost increases are having exactly the impact that was predicted." Our CEO Kate Nicholls has responded to today's ONS GDP data, which shows the economy shrank by 0.3% in April. www.ukhospitality.org.uk/april-costs-...

70% of hospitality businesses will reduce employment, a third will cut trading hours and 1 in 7 will look to close sites as a result of the damaging rise in costs hitting the sector. Our CEO Kate Nicholls was on @lbc.co.uk discussing the changes businesses are having to make.
