Family members who love these books are always so confused as to why scholars of religion and Bible can’t find jobs right now and our departments shuttering - but critical analysis of their interpretations is NOT something they want questioned.

I used to read them. Major disasters, while terrible, were also framed by evangelical churches as titillating...sexy almost.

There’s no pretense here of targeting criminals - the usual excuse for mass deportations. DHS is specifically encouraging Haitian “doctors, lawyers, scholars and engineers” to leave. Any decent society would value these people.

I’m not saying he’s the most important person in the world, but...is it worth losing votes you need to win? AES: 10 in 10 Americans agree that they can’t afford the things that they need in their lives.
