I met Jason Sole one year ago today. 🎉 He sent me his TED talk on LinkedIn. I didn't know him. I assumed he was selling something, the way many people are. He was not. He shared his talk, said he was waiting on a pardon decision, and asked for good vibes. That was it. Just a man sharing his work.

He walks through what it means to survive the system, to be branded as inmate 204956, and to find his way back to himself through community.
We raised the kind of money the state government should have been responsible for. A long time ago, somebody had the idea of billing the government for the volunteer hours worked during the surge. I still think that’s a great idea.

I think people not in Minneapolis really do think sentiment has faded here but everyone I know has stayed angry. If every single person protesting JL had been arrested and jailed and there was another shitbag to protest the next day, another hundred of us would have come out.
I can't believe we're only a little over a month away from a full year of the current ICE occupation. At least 5,000 mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, cousins, aunties, uncles, and neighbors, taken from us. Ripped from our neighborhoods without our permission or consent. 💔

🧵 A few thoughts on the geography of #SaintPaul 's shifting homeless encampments. The Fish Hatchery camp that Mayor Her forcibly cleared this week was on some of the most isolated land in the city, over 2 miles from downtown StP, surrounded by RRs, river, highways, & cliffs.
I heard not one peep on this today on @npr.org The video is terrifying. It’s already out there- be cautious and thoughtful if you do post it. I will not. Corey Ruiz should be here and truly 🖕🏻 the poIice who did this.
