I had a chat with ABC News yesterday about the Victorian One Nation leader’s endorsement of the utterly stupid conspiracy theory surrounding the ‘15-minute city’ concept. (Perhaps they _want_ people to waste an hour on their daily commute ? More time for toxic talk radio ?)

If you turn up to a press conference from which your media colleagues have been banned for doing journalism you're not a scab but you're certainly scab-adjacent.

Pauline Hanson flees her own custom-curated presser. With ABC & Guardian banned, & far-right criminal Avi Yemini running interference, still can’t handle questions, even from Sky “Shouldn't all media have access...?"💥 Not even sidekick Avi could save her from total humiliation.
So you have a right wing movement in the UK that, like in the US & partially funded by US groups, is going after bodily autonomy rights full force - against trans, non-binary & Intersex folk, the entire LGBTQ spectrum, women, the neurodivergent, disabled, those w/ mental illnesses, immigrants, etc.

The situation in many devloped countries now is the product of a coalition on one side that is determined to put the state in chains so that it can never, ever act again, and a coalition on the other that would really rather like the state to act to make life easier bc we all now know it can.
In developed countries with hyper-individualist cultures, a small group of people who never really thought about the world in a structured way were freaked out to learn they weren't the Main Character and that the state could act in ways that might compel them to act in turn.
For a generation, everyone lived with the fairy tale that the state was powerless. Suddenly, that was shown to be a lie. It acted, which means it can act again. But it does not. Many people have become disillusioned bc they know better is possible. The cookers, meanwhile, went the other way.
My own theory: everyone watched governments move quickly to take care of people (social security increases, job guarantee, eviction moratoriums) after years of being told it was impossible. After, it was all immediately yanked away. Worse, politicians have gone back to pretending it's not possible
One of my Crank Theories of Everything, at least of Everything in the Recent Past, is that we are dealing (badly) with COVID trauma we’d mostly prefer to pretend never happened.
I wrote a whole book about this! And it wasn’t hard to find people to include; it was hard to narrow the list down from *OVER A HUNDRED* early gamedevs
many of the early and most successful game designers and developers were women most people don't remember their names today, or recall that video game history started before the Boys Toys era funny that many of the games I grew up loving most were designed by women and I never knew til years later

I only say this to push back on the very successful government propaganda that was designed to prioritize capitalism over human health, because there was literally no scientific basis for deciding to stop protecting ourselves from Covid. It has never been consequence free to get it.
The whole JSP system needs to be scrapped and the original Commonwealth Employment Service (CES) reinstated. The JSP system was started by Howard and was basically 'jobs for the boys'.

What the fuck is this, ABC on YouTube? As an Indigenous person who is proud that Victoria has a Treaty, signed by the Labor government, no, it's absolutely not a good time for Labor to lose the Victorian election. They and the Greens support Treaty, the Liberals, Nationals, and One Nation don't.
