It’s a packed house at the Ballard Light Rail meeting where CM Strauss, Mayor Wilson, Ryan Mello, Sen. Frame, Rep. Berry, CM Barón, CM Rinck, Dow Constantine, Brad Owen, and Lauren Mattias are taking questions.
SDOT came out and striped yesterday! Unfortunately, according to the SDOT inspector, there are no plans to harden the daylighting.
Daylighting intersections isn’t enough. You have to “harden” the daylighting to prevent vehicles from occupying the space. Otherwise, you are just replacing cars with delivery trucks.
The Seattle Times Editorial Board, one-third nepobaby, is unhappy about taxes on the rich so they're whining about it.
These lawmakers once received Times endorsements. Not this time | Editorial
When incumbents and challengers did not meet the standards of the editorial board, it chose to make no endorsement. Here's why we withheld our seal of approval.

I can’t believe I’ve been complaining about Bell Street for more than a decade. Let’s support Brook’s effort to do something about it.
sick of cars driving through Bell Street Park? ask electeds and SDOT officials to add diverters so only bikes and pedestrians can go through! actionnetwork.org/letters/d439...
A stretch Lime scooter is all it takes to tackle the male loneliness epidemic.
This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.
I worked at the Plaid Pantry at 32nd & Burnside in Portland for one day.
In honor of the fired lady tell me about your shortest job tenure. I worked at a candy store for less than 2 weeks when I was like 16
Someday, we’ll have streets like this in every neighborhood in Seattle and ask ourselves why it took so long.
Current Status: Attempting to design "very MUTCD" shared street signs.
SDOT plans to improve 30 intersections on Queen Anne in 2027 (some of these are already done).

Curb space is a valuable public resource and performance-based parking is a responsible way to manage that space where demand for private vehicle storage is high.
How should we manage street parking in the City's busiest areas? Street space is limited and valuable. That's why we use performance-based pricing. By charging to park at the busiest locations during the busiest times, drivers can find a parking spot when they need it.
Cop gesturing to speed up when he sees someone going slightly under the limit.
This is one reason why we have so many road deaths the police refuse to enforce speed laws even 15 mph above the speed limit
Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler but my favorite Hampstead bollard made an appearance on the latest episode of Slow Horses.

I'm listening to this meeting thinking about the city layoffs and budget cuts happening knowing that these staff-supported meetings will keep happening.
There is no corner of local government too cluttered with knicknacks. Ryan will cover it.
Greetings from a crowded dining room in Beaux Arts Village, Washington (pop. 310), where the town council is holding a meeting. On the agenda is a hearing that involves the town's compliance with the 2025 Housing Accountability Act.
You can tell the extent to which the Queen Anne Pool parking lot is just used for general parking purposes. (The pool has been closed for repairs for months.)
And the previous mayor nearly put one of these guys out of his job.
For the first time since the McGinn administration, the Mayor of Seattle is holding a general press availability this afternoon.
People don't realize how much skill and hard work it takes to make a project like this happen. Kudos to @lhjseattle.bsky.social!

I heard Zelensky blew up the Russian bots, so I posted this on the bad site to see if it was true. Sorry. I was curious.
The American Dream—buying a house in the suburbs and watching it increase in value to the point where subsequent generations need to move farther and farther out to obtain the same thing at a comparable price, but with an even more soul-crushing commute—was always a Ponzi scheme.
