Happy #LitHodgePodge 20! One trope I throw out plenty for BLUDEYE BEACH is Grumpy x Sunshine; Edie is cheerful and friendly, and Milo is reserved and standoffish. Of course, the more Edie gets to know Milo, we see Milo is a lot more socially anxious than he is grumpy 😂

Unity Unity refers to how various elements of a design work together to create a cohesive whole. It involves both visual and conceptual harmony, and it ensures that a design communicates its message clearly. Visual unity is about making visual sense, while conceptual unity is about the purpose of visual elements and the effectiveness of a composition’s message. Designers often look for unity at a later stage in the design process. If a design doesn’t feel unified, it may be helpful to revisit the aforementioned principles and tweak various aspects to make things feel more cohesive.

Happy #WIPSnips 14 - Territory! Not the kind of territory I expected to find when I popped open the werewolf romantasy, but this is one of my favorite scenes. Isabelle and Luke have already gotten pretty close, but this is when they can get closer emotionally. (And then physically again. Har har)

Isabelle gave him a sharp look. “What did you call me?” “Is it okay if I call you Izzy?” Luke asked. “You said that’s what your friends call you.” “Friends,” Isabelle repeated. Luke could have kicked himself. “More than friends.” This felt like dangerous territory. “But at least friends, right? If your friends can call you Izzy, what do you want me to call you?” “I kind of like that you call me Isabelle.” She watched him, her eyes half-closed. “That’s not too formal?” Luke asked. “I think I like when you’re formal.”

I don't think anyone should write defensively. If you write to fend off the bad-faith reader, you'll get backed into a smaller and smaller corner because turns out, anything can be read in bad faith. You'll end up with a blank page. Was reminded of this by Tristram Shandy (1761). #LGBTQWriteAThon

Happy #LitHodgePodge 13! Oooh I have so much to talk about here In Bludeye Beach, I lean hard into setting as character. The town is weird, with its own ecosystem of weird, and everyone knows it's weird. It also has separate pieces to it - the beach & ocean, the caves, the woods, and the township.
