I make art, try to raise my kids to be Good Humans, and yell about disability. Maker of Santa Dinos and whatever else I feel like. She/they #art #knitting #3Dprinting 🧶 https://linktr.ee/measuredandslow

Kids die every year at both fall back and spring forward, many more than 8 kids in PA in 1972. There are statistics about this going back decades. The week following the time switch in either direction has increased fatalities in a bunch of sectors and we’re doing it *twice a year*

I'm not naive enough to actually believe this will happen, but Democrats could be preparing, right now, lists of impeachment charges against (at a bare minimum) Hegseth, Kennedy, Mullin, Patel, Blanche, & Trump, as well as Bondi, Bovino, & Noem (still worth doing!) that rely purely on public facts,

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Okay, I think we all know I'm absolutely for this. But. BUT. Convicting needs 67, and I really need to all of us to actually include this in the conversation, especially if you have some social weight and expertise in your field. I'm not being pedantic, understanding reality is important.

What everyone has to prepare for is the constitutional crisis to accelerate if the Democrats take the House and the Senate. Vought has been allowed by the Republicans to act with impunity, so have he will continue to ignore Congress. This is why you have to impeach him immediately.

Mr Measured is finally home and he’s in putting together a dresser and I can hear Kid 1 listing yōkai and their powers in very long run-on sentences. Given that he bought the book they’re learning this from on the LAST trip and I’ve already heard this list 183 times this week, good luck to him lol

Most people aren't talking about the kind of transformations we really need, because I think a lot of folks have surrendered to the idea of living in a "rape-prone" society. The satisfaction of occasionally punishing some of the most egregious actors is all many are allowing themselves to hope for.

I feel like there's a cohort of us who got on the internet before "social media" and made all sorts of healthy friendships through forums or livejournal or what have you and thus, while everyone's like SOCIAL MEDIA FUELS COMPARISON AND MISERY we're like, but that's just where my friends live.

Without the online friends I’ve made over the years, some of whom have become offline friends (even recently!), I would be a much, much lonelier person. Social media feels evil sometimes, but it makes some miracles too.

Restorative justice doesn't mean "nothing bad ever happens to you." It means, "in determining what happens from here on out, we center the needs of your victim to repair what happened to them over your own needs."

Not as punishment. Not as a matter of being carceral. But because his going to any one of these events from here on out would continue to push women out of the profession, and at a fucking bare minimum, he had to stop doing harm before you could begin to talk about restoration.

So if you actually care about restorative justice, the thing I beg you to start doing in these cases is CENTERING THE FUCKING VICTIMS. And not demanding that people immediately jump to how they can best not ruin the man's life.

Two completely different issues that by no means are contradictory. Prisons are institutional. Public shaming is social. We do not get to control people feelings. And reform by no means should require putting someone back to the position they held before. Especially as a media figure.

I haven't watched a Jacob Geller video in quite a while; so this doesn't come from a place of parasociality We as leftists need to pick a lane. Square this circle for me: * We want to abolish prisons * People should be judged for their sins for their entire life

the Cornell case should make us question prosecutors and police all the time: the same DA offices discounting college students’ sexual assault cases (the lacking investigations, the disbelief) are happy to jail countless women for far less, day in and day out, when most people aren’t watching

BUT, Wood’s experience helped inspire Working Women United, a public speak-out on workplace harassment, and a new language for identifying a problem women had long experienced but struggled to name. Anyhoo, this is why Women’s and Gender Studies is important. Talking to you, Cornell.

Also curious about the definition of “physical labor” because I make things with my actual literal hands and there is a HIGH rate of physical burnout in my industry but I’m going to guess artists are not allowed to be blue collar under anyone’s bills, left or right lol

Why are issues like retirement age and the physical toll these jobs can take on the body so rarely mentioned? stevens.house.gov/media/press-...
