Proud Canadian, Ottawa, Ontario cyclist, walker, runner, LARPer, all the things. Videos, photos, or advocacy around active transportation/transit. Hands off my country Orange Menace.

Another day, another watermain break (Riverside/Vanier Parkway at Tremblay) in Ottawa. Leiper has an actual plan for addressing this shortfall from years of Watson and Sutcliffe underfunding rather than handwaving and hoping the province and feds save our ass.

I got a response to my Freedom of Information request regarding the LRT upload: There were no communications between the OCTranspo head, the mayor, the city manager or Metrolinx re the upload from March 1st to 26 September 2026. There is no $4 billion deal with the province.

Don’t even think about it. There’s so many things I’ve wanted to go to, relatives or connections, events, music festivals, canyons, parks. Don’t get me wrong, these are very important to me or nice to see. But being put in a detention camp or supporting the regime that put people in them? NOPE!!!!!!

Amazing how a little rain makes the speeding and narrow sidewalk issues visible and...tangible as in I am now soaking wet after walking my kid to school in what is otherwise just light rain. This is what makes routes to school feel unsafe and walking feel untenable.

Narrow sidewalk and tree lawn as a car speeds by in a 25 mph zone, spraying a large amount of water on the sidewalk occupant, me.Just at the 20 mph to 25 mph school zone transition, cars speed by spraying water onto the sidewalk across a narrow tree lawn on a main street and primary route to school.
