My lab at SickKids in Toronto, Canada, studies brain development. We want to know how nerve cells wire to form complex neural circuits. Here for science, actions to make our world a peaceful, safe, and healthy place, laughs, and cycling.

CIHR has launched a trial ballon that suggests shifting to one competition a year. This is the worst idea I have heard in a long time. The only benefit is making top-line success rates look better than they are. Keep it as is, do in-person reviews, and keep the pain in the open.

What a great synapse social! Thanks to everyone who came including our special guests Troy Littleton, Heather Broihier, Sheena Josselyn, Megan Williams, Martin Hruska, and more! And extra thanks for my co-organiser Julie Lefebvre for being amazing to work with. A great time for faculty AND trainees!

Hi all. Frank passed peacefully with the love of his family on July 18, 2025 in London, ON. He was a wonderful human being who shared much of his life with you. We could not have asked for a better father, grandfather, friend, colleague, or mentor. 1/

which brought more circuit-level understanding of the human brain and brought more connections between neurosurgery and fundamental neuroscience research. This is the kind of gold standard science that will bring future treatments; it is a public good that only govt will invest in. #neuroscience
