Quick walk near the stadium earlier, noticed the large ball commemorating Dave Parker's HOF induction is not yet installed. Statue-form Maz looks same as he ever was nearby. @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social

Bit of a @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social Field trip to Hoboken, NJ, took me to Elysian Fields recently, the "birthplace" of base ball (it's a little more complex than that). The first recorded game in Pittsburgh was played 12 years later, across from Gus and Yaya's stand (they weren't there yet). 🧵1/3

On our way out of St. Louis yesterday, I stopped at 1212 N. Lindbergh Blvd. From 1969 to 1996, this tired-looking suburban office building was the home of The Sporting News, which arrived in the mail every Saturday for years, teaching me about sports and writing. @sabrlandmarks.bsky.social

Have you visited our display Celebrating Women in Baseball at the Rockford Public Library yet? There are objects from past international tournaments and teams, some of which will compete in the Women’s Baseball World Cup Group Stage at Rivets Stadium next summer. Check it out!
