β€œStone?” β€œUnit of measurement, don’t worry about it,” Cook says as he slides a glass of orange juice towards me. β€œFair enough.” I eat breakfast in silence, savouring each bite. It’s exactly what I needed. β€œLunch isn’t for a few more hours, so if you’re not looking to interrupt the class, are you going to try out the thing from yesterday again?” β€œNo. I feel uneasy about something. Going to check out the treeline for a bit. Everything is still closed up tight, right?” I ask. β€œOh yes! I can open this back door right here, but nothing else. You good to go out alone?” His voice carries a lot of concern for my safety. β€œI think so, with these new guns of mine,” I say, and I have to fight so hard not to laugh at his frown, and again when his expression changes to irritation when I hold up my arms and flex my fingers. β€œDon’t get too cocky just yet,” he continues gruffly, β€œyou’re only just scratching the surface of what a Draakkin can do!” β€œAlright dad, but I still have to check the treeline for anything I find either suspicious or troubling, cause that’s my job,” I say with a smile and walk towards the back door. He unlocks and holds it open for me.

#FaveLineFriday From my current unnamed Wip, Part II Bonus: something without a name trees because the bartender is mixing some things together in hopes it tastes good (a one time i experienced that, the bartender did make something that tasted good, so… voilΓ )

We rode in silence after that, only the deer-thing honking like a plastic sporting event blow-horn every now and then. We even rode through town drawing looks from the townspeople as our means of transportation honked. When this world would finally have cars, this would be normal to them; until then, they’d have to deal with the goose moose. We pulled up to the house and unfastened the creature from the cart.

#FaveLineFriday Writing hasn't been easy, as you can probably tell, but I have written! From my cozy fantasy hero x villain romance WIP Wish Upon a Storm. Proudest writing achievement so far? Probably releasing Island of the Baboon God!

A warm soft thumb slipped under his shirt, brushed over bare skin. Wes rose up on the balls of his feet. "We - we put a lot of work into the castle!" He said. "And this party! There's guests coming in a few hours!" "All the more reason to take you before they get here." "My parents will be there," Wes said. "I haven't seen them in forever." A finger joined the thumb. Wes felt himself relaxing into the touch. "You're enjoying this," the professor said. Wes blushed. The knites tittered nervously. "I can't stop you from doing what you want with me," Wes said. He placed a hand over the professor's. "But - but don't you want to see what we've done with the place first? We put so much work into making it our home…"

How can she do it? How can she be so strong, after everything she’s been through? As if answering my questions, she said the words I never expected to hear, even though I really should have by then. I knew them so well, as I had practiced them in my head every night we spent together, until they felt foreign and strange. Yet, when she said them with such tenderness, both in body and soul, they resonated as strongly as the crystals of the World’s Edge. β€œI love you, Jane.” β€œI love you, too.” The words came out quickly, desperately, almost clumsily, flowing like a river in a storm before a single thought could dam the way. At the last possible moment, I had decided that I didn’t trust my brain not to mess it up, so I trusted my heart to get it right instead. All my silent rehearsals, gone to waste… … but her smile couldn’t have been brighter.
