"The Switch is so old," you all said. "I need better graphics," you demanded. "Wah wah," you cried. And now, you sit here before Slippy Toad, the slippiest he's ever been, slippier than a fucking banana peel under a kart wheel, all thanks to the raw power of the Nintendo Switch 2—and you reject him?

“AI will exacerbate a widening divide in US #HigherEducation [so] that small numbers of elite students will have access to a more traditional, largely tech-free liberal arts education, while everyone else has a ‘degraded, soulless form of vocational training administered by AI instructors’” #GenAI

Admin complicity has been kind of heartbreaking > Many universities’ administrations are embracing AI for instruction, research, and evaluation. In some cases, AI has guided decisions about which programs to cut at times of austerity in the education sector. www.theguardian.com/technology/n...

I remain fascinated by people who are 100% all-in on using LLMs at their jobs (and telling everyone that they're doing it) and who appear to have never paused to consider "what value am I personally adding in here, at this point, and why do I think my employers won't eventually figure this out"

Had a Zoom meeting where my tax professional was using Google Gemini to look up the tax code, and I am thinking to myself, what am I paying you for?

It's not great that a student can turn in a bad essay but vaguely point to the Bible and religious beliefs as an excuse for not following the actual assignment and terrible writing. That's not what college is supposed to be. The professor did nothing wrong but she was pulled off the course anyways.

A formal statement from the University of Oklahoma appears on a white background with red accents. The text explains that the university is reviewing a student’s concern about grading and religious freedom. It states that college leaders contacted the student promptly, conducted a formal grade appeals process, and ensured no academic harm occurred. It also notes that the student filed a claim of illegal discrimination based on religious beliefs, which triggered a university review process. The graduate student instructor was placed on administrative leave, and a full-time professor assumed teaching duties for the rest of the semester. The statement reaffirms OU’s commitment to fairness, respect, and protecting students’ rights to express sincerely held religious beliefs. At the bottom is the University of Oklahoma logo.

the fact that nick fuentes isn’t here but ms rachel is illustrates perfectly that groups like this don’t actually care about antisemitism at all

Philosophers: At least one thing in America doesn't suck. The Central APA (starting tomorrow) is looking really good. Lots of innovative sessions, a smooth online platform, and a bunch of great people involved. Please consider tuning in - several sessions are free and open to the public.

Friends, for something to be open source, we need to see 1. The data it was trained & evaluated on 2. The code 3. Model architecture 4. Model weights. DeepSeek only gives 3, 4. And I'll see the day that anyone gives us #1 without being forced to do so, because all of them are stealing data.
