I live near Bloor and my experience improved for cycling, driving and walking when the bike lanes were installed. The people who drove faster before the lanes went in are the antisocial drivers who weave through traffic and cut others off.

I harp on this all the time, but there is so much peer reviewed solid evidence that we benefit from small talk with strangers, knowing our neighbours, chatting with our baristas, etc. And I believe that our shift away from that stuff is at the root of all our antisocial behaviour right now.

How to talk to a stranger and make friends

Talking to strangers is good for us, and a growing number of places have started campaigns, events and programs to kickstart those conversations

"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk…” One of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen any politician do to any city.

Ontario will begin removing bike lanes from a stretch on Bloor Street W. in Etobicoke on Tuesday, the Ministry of Transportation says.

In the past month, I've started waking once a week at 1am--involuntarily--& being so wired that I can't get back to sleep all night. Couldn't figure out why. Wasn't doing anything different. Just realized: I'm scared by what I'm seeing in my research. Nihilistic billionaires toying with our lives.

Headline of June 2025 article by in the Nation by author Jeet Heer:
"The Billionaires Are Abandoning Humanity
Peter Thiel and his friends feel they no longer belong to our species."

Fall is the best season and I will not be debating this. I'm in a sweater biking to work. I will arrive at the perfect temperature, not sweaty and not cold. It's sunny out, but I don't need sunscreen. The best.

Riding a bike share or walking through the woods in High Park to get to my near-weekly hospital appointments feels like a cheat code for maintaining my mental health this year. Everyone deserves to live in a place where you don’t have to be car dependent.

When I was a frequent visitor of the hospitals I usually rode my bike. Slowly riding to the hospital felt like a good level of exertion was more manageable than the stairs associated with the subway or the parking garage.

I am once again at Biidaasige. $1.5 billion in investment that’s going to unlock something like $10 billion in development. An engineering project that allowed landscape architects to lead. We are very fortunate.

I contrast ABC Toronto’s opposition of University bike lanes in May using a badly faked AI image, claiming it’s a hospital corridor 1st, w dozens healthcare workers rallying this week in support of lanes, w 650 of them signing an open letter to Doug Ford. Very Real vs Very Fake.
