It may not be surprising, but it's nevertheless sad to see a Canadian newspaper trumpet Washington's call to demolish the #ICC, and siding with impunity for Putin, Netanyahu, and the Taliban. This is now part of the right's firmament, along with anti-trans politics and Residential School denialism.
"In the Canadian capital of Ottawa, 14% of vehicles were speeding on Katimavik Road last fall while the cameras were in use, but a whopping 80% did in May following their removal." www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
What Happens When Speed Cameras Get Shut Off
In 2025, Ontario banned automated traffic enforcement. Now the number of drivers exceeding the speed limit has surged, according to traffic data.

we should be moving fast to ventilate schools and perhaps install UV light before the next pandemic
The west Toronto rail path is open. It’s really open! Just the other day. Closed since 2022, Metrolinx said it would be a year. Ford Math. Anyway the artwork that outlined (space w out paint) the trees is now a memorial to those trees.
Metrolinx closed the West Toronto Railpath in November 2022 for “one year” and it just reopened yesterday. This place serves as both a large linear park and an important active transportation route to bypass busy streets and I’m so excited to finally having it back.
Your tech breaks. Buying new seems cheaper than repairing. We’re making the Right to Repair the new standard in Europe.
Love to see this from a public health department Bravo 👏🏼

This is terrible. The authors admit that their intervention failed to provide the correct Clean Air Delivery Rate. I mean, if you know the intervention you’re testing is inadequate, why test at all?? And why demand they REMOVE existing HEPA fitration units (which might have had the right CADR)?
Not much to say here. The same vibes-based medicine that has been driving anti-PPE misinformation since long before COVID hit. Imagine a drug manufacturer testing its competitor's product at a subclinical dose (but "we feel like that's good enough") and then claiming it doesn't work. Unserious.
Councillor Paula Fletcher says 24,000 people visited the Biidaasige Park on Saturday, to check out the new expansion. She points out that the site could have been home to Google Canada's HQ, had Toronto not stood up to the private sector Sidewalk Labs plan.
Is his position that if he has to suffer because he lives near Pearson then everyone who lives downtown should also suffer?
"You come to my house, you will notice there are triple-pane windows," says Holyday. He says he likes that they save him money on heating/cooling, but the real reason he has them is his "proximity to the airport and the noise that happens at night."
I talk to people all the time about this. We've memory-holed an unprecedented global threat. One that caused millions of deaths and long-term disabilities. And it's only been six years! I feel like a lot of the insanity of recent years stems from our inability to even recognize the trauma
It's amazing how quickly we've forgotten how shit-ourselves scared we all were in 2020. Covid-19 was new. We had no firm idea how bad it could get, how it spread, or how to treat for it. Now, these bastards on the right act like the whole thing was just a minor inconvenience blown out of proportion.
One of my Crank Theories of Everything, at least of Everything in the Recent Past, is that we are dealing (badly) with COVID trauma we’d mostly prefer to pretend never happened.

It’s laughable - and a lie - because the Toronto port authority, controlled by liberals, has nearly a kilometre of a plan.
I've written my MP (Danielle Martin) a few times and do get responses. Largely boilerplate, but the responses do get more expansive about protecting the waterfront. Laughable official line is "no plan has been presented".
If you’re doing a podcast on menopause maybe try not to invite the doctor with a whole website selling her own line of supplements as a ‘cure’
The honesty & process around the Gordie Howe deal casts a shadow on how island airport expansion is going to go for federal Liberals + Toronto IMHO. Be wary.
Is there any worse end of life than being “weekend at Bernie’d” for several weeks to foil someone else’s political ambitions?
This is what I’ve settled on. The Jays would be champions if the Shapiro-Tory-Rogers axis of doom hadn’t killed ActiveTO
Shapiro's letter. God loves ActiveTO Lakeshore closures.
Im SO happy I took so many screenshots during COVID. There are SO MANY articles that do not even EXIST anymore. People are trying so hard to rewrite history from the last 6 years.
The food supply chain is an incredibly complex Jenga tower. One piece gets out of line and the whole thing can fall apart. It relies on the good will and professionalism of the companies involved. When one company decided to save themselves money, it cost us millions & could have made people sick
