Sam Altman hates that you own a computer. He wants to own your computer, and get paid when you use it, and monitor what you do with it, and decide what you're allowed to do with it. Like every other Silicon Valley bigwig these days his entire business model is that he should own you.

Coming right out and saying that OpenAI's vision of the future is one in which they own all computers and you rent computing from them... or at least, you rent time and power doing whatever Sam Altman thinks you should be allowed to do. This is an authoritarian worldview that must be annihilated.

The costume theme at my wife’s office today was “dead celebrities” and she came up with this one all on her own. 10/10 no notes.

A woman wearing an inflatable planet costume with a big white heart. Because it’s Pluto. Which is dead. Get it? Of course you do, because you know that it had it coming.

If you want the Star Trek future that Stewart sold you through Picard you actually have to take action to make it so. Not with questionable apps or flying boondoggles but mutual support, solidarity, political activism. If you feel the loss of your TV dad, honour his memory by doing something.

do not funnel your grief over this death into trek and x-men merch, paramount & disney dont need your money. go to plays, give to charities, vote for candidates who will fund public art, and you will make it possible for people like patrick stewart to exist and keep existing. a rising tide lifts all

I was thinking about a friend, just spending time with him, smooching, cuddling, going out to a bathhouse together and the feeling goes hard (figuratively and literally) but like, what's the point. I'm just making myself sad.

You know actually getting involved in local politics has been one of the best things I've done in a long time but also some parts of it make me want to dig a hole and never come out of it. It may surprise you to learn given, you know, my socials, that the biggest of these is political social media.

During the brazilian elections we learned one obvious but important tactic to defeat the far right on the Internet and I think everyone should know it: IGNORE THEM! DON'T ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONTENT! DON'T MAKE CONTENT REACTING TO THEM! DON'T HATE QRT! LET THEM ALONE IN THEIR BUBBLE!

Brilliant, back to the objectively worse bullshit version of time. I like the extra hour in bed but it's not worth stealing light from evening people to give it to morning people who already structured all of society around themselves.
