This line of political agitation primes parents to lock down right when they need other people in the room the most not just around gender identity but also around mental health, substance use, or experiences of harm/abuse/crisis. This is sowing suffering and I hate it so much.
This cuts deep for me because as a parent I have run into some situations with my kids where I was really out of my depth and I wished I could just grab the wheel and fix it all. It took school and community support people to help me figure out what I could be in those moments to help my child.
There's a line of political agitation about schools and parents and gender identity that really comes down to a lot of people being angry that if your child is part of a supportive and accepting community it might undermine your ability to exert ultimate authority over your children.
53 years ago today, 10/10/73, VP Spiro Agnew was forced to resign the Vice Presidency after he was caught grifting& extorting *$200,000* during his time as city manager of Baltimore, Gov. of Maryland and while Vice President. Trump and his kids & son-in-law now grift OVER $200,000 an hour easily.
I read to my child nightly. She is 9 now and flying through books like they're nothing. Over 20 since the start of summer including the entire Percy Jackson series. I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't want to set their children up for success.

Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.
It's not that this country has never had state sanctioned murder for mass comsumption, it's just that at some point it became taboo to say that you wanted to actually see a lynching, but our current government is trying to get rid of that taboo and take America back to its roots.
Griffin left Illinois because he failed at buying elections. His parting gift was having his name smeared on a treasured Chicago institution.
