One thing people should notice, Dems are turning out in almost 2X the numbers of GOP in Michigan so far for this

Expect some snark along with some history. Analysis is just my opinion, and I might be wrong… Also, I’m human without an edit button. There will be typos.
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
Trump Moves to Cut Off Student Loans for Tons of Degrees
Under a new rule, if your degree doesn’t make enough money, you won’t be able to get a student loan.

Madison, WI. Today, 4August Police brought a wheel loader. Protesters clung to what they called "an autonomous zone," where a cop killed Corey Ruiz. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Laura Schulte, captured the scene at 7:44 am (local time). "Police have removed protestors." URL: x.com/SchulteLaura...
This feels like a huge story that I suspect will just be another story everyone breezes past because everything is a huge story But also, holy shit

Babylon 5 is perhaps the most politically sophisticated science fiction series ever made (light years beyond Gene Roddenberry) and much of it speaks directly to the era we live in. I don’t know how @straczynski.bsky.social managed to be this prescient 30 years ago.
Well worth it.
It is 2006. I am 22. The US is mired in a costly Forever War. A predictable historic market collapse looms. I do not have health insurance. It is 2026. I am 42. The US is mired in a costly Forever War. A predictable historic market collapse looms. I do not have health insurance.
Cook County SA Eileen O'Neill Burke's office is moving forward with prosecuting a violence-prevention volunteer who was arrested by CPD after he tried to turn in a gun at a police station. The man spent 7 months in Cook County Jail for his effort; trial begins next week.
Former Education Secretary Arne Duncan calls gun case against Chicago anti-violence volunteer a 'travesty'
Duncan runs Chicago CRED, which works to prevent shootings. He says volunteer Nakia Smith, arrested in a Far South Side police station in 2023, has been "fighting for the good." Smith, a convicted fel...

This is agent #7880, who we've become quite familiar with in immigration court & other videos like this around the Chicago area. He was also the agent giving orders at Broadview on Sept 26 last year, when his agents shot my reporting partner in the face w/a pepperball.
Yesterday prominent Chicagoland ICE observers shared video online depicting 2 federal agents approaching observers with weapons in hand, threatening arrest. The same video shows an agent using a vehicle to box in the observers' car, and another agent asking why the observers are blocking the road.
3rd attempt—I was poking around the Library of Congress and found this map of the 1893 World’s Fair showing the location of all the Remington typewriters in use at the fair.
"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read." Happy birthday, James Baldwin!
Voting for a clearly compromised, corrupt personal attorney of a felon to be Attorney General of the United States shows you what Republicans think of their country and basic ethics.
Also Superman. Lex *could* just do good stuff. He doesn't want to.
That headline is underselling it. HUNDREDS of trump accounts were closed by Capital One for anti-money laundering REASONS. Associated Press is tiptoeing around words a bit
As interesting as it is to see how the alders align themselves, if we learned anything from the last mayoral election it’s that voters don’t care who their alder endorses. Half the Black caucus endorsed Vallas and he didn’t win a single one of their wards. Nary a precinct, even.
“Among the sea of those wearing orange “LiUNA Local 1001 for Alexi” shirts were Alds. Felix Cardona Jr. (31st), Emma Mitts (37th), Timmy Knudsen (43rd), Michelle Harris (8th) and Brian Hopkins (2nd).” What an odd bunch of alders. Doesn’t bode well for MBJ.
Probably the best argument for the separation of church & state I've ever seen.👇🏻

glad we are all on the same page about taking our chances with Batman instead of the Powerpuff Girls 😭
Probably for the same reason that the Democratic Party is.

I don’t think enough people understand that softness is often the byproduct of security. you’ll notice it in the way she speaks, the way she looks at you, the way she lets herself simply exist. safety changes everything.

Two elections, three justices on the Court and so forth. But it has failed because it didn't consolidate power. It's purely their fault. Had they spent money and not tried to blow up the government they could've had 20-30 years. The sentiments and factions it harnessed still exist. Therefore -
Something I think that underlies a lot of debates within the Democratic party and center-left right now is whether or not you think Trumpism has been successful as a political and ideological project. (Not, obviously, whether it's been good or not).
Hello BlueSky 🥰slinging Java and listening to Aurora drop the coffee tracks on the Cosmic Cafe Radio 📻 cheers have a sip for me 🤗
He is talented. I told him to move to New Jersey, get himself a television show. Kim has that seat now. He is not going to be president.
Buttigieg also mentioned that being a father this time around will factor into his decision.
