How do we solve the homelessness crisis in Seattle? We need to rapidly create more shelter and housing.
Another 1,000+ trees, another $1M+ from the federal government to pay for thier planting and maintenance. The next generation will enjoy this investment long after this election cycle is lost to history. I’m Really proud of that. #NewWest www.newwestcity.ca/2026/10/30/t...

Now that the work is wrapped up, a quick set of Thank-yous! #NewWest
So proud of #NewWest leading the province on this work, and made prouder with every City across the province who follows our lead in dealing with the root causes of homelessness. Congratulaitons to Mayor Paul Horn and #MissionBC

I had to go on a trip out of town to manage a bit of a family emergency (all is OK in the end) and these are the two books I packed to re-read. Is this… catharsis?

Beer. I don’t mean that flippantly. Against the oligarchical tendencies of ABinBev/MolsonCoors/Heineken, everywhere I travel in the world, there are local people trying to make good quality local beer that speaks to the community they serve. “Craft” is diminutive to what this means for community.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?
Bikelanes aren't the issue. They're the scapegoat. These projects are never about bike lanes, they're road safety projects, designed and proven to reduce collisions and improve safety for everyone using the street: people driving, walking, taking transit, cycling, and using mobility devices.
New from me: More than 23K responses to our "Vote Compass" tool reveal that the most polarizing issue in this Toronto civic election is ... bike lanes. No other issue had people so firmly for or against, with few in the ambivalent middle www.thestar.com/news/gta/thi...

All of this because most the people who live here want to start their own country and Putin is happy to help.
Have to say, the Cambie Report endorsement was both the most concise and most accurate of this #NewWest campaign. 🤣 www.cambiereport.ca/category/pod...

Why? Why keep repeating a “half million dollar mushroom wall” lie when you know it’s not true? #NewWest
Wild that his only idea for Climate Action is "plant more trees", while failing to mention the 1000's of trees we've planted this term. Not surprising: he also failed to mention the six (6!) times he brought motions to defund Climate Action in #NewWest. www.freshetnews.ca/where-do-new...

Apartment fire last night in Downtown #NewWest. Unfortunately, 37 Agnes was a completely loss. Everyone accounted for and safe as far as we can tell, though the evacuation was quick. About 50 residents displaced. Emergency Support Services on site helping with resident support. Thank you NWFR!
Thanks Matt! Usually “vote early, vote often” is a joke, but in your case, keep at it!
Cast my ballot for @pjnewwest.bsky.social and his team, in the first of the three (!) elections I'm voting in this month.
Fighting for #NewWest means knowing when to raise your voice, and knowing when to sit down with partners and do the work. It’s not about the Lights and Cameras - it’s about the Action. And the results on the ground. @communityfirstnw.bsky.social
I'm proud of this one. We can make Vision Zero a reality in #NewWest. We can end road deaths and serious injuries. We can lead the province and demonstrate it can be done. And I'm committed to seeing it through. I just need your vote. www.communityfirstnw.ca/patrick_john...
We don't endorse candidates lightly, but @pjnewwest.bsky.social has proven that he not only talks the talk but walks the walk. His commitments to road safety have made a real difference and positioned New West as a leader in the region. visionzerovancouver.ca/2026/10/08/j...
Did our duty! Morning radio interview, meetings at City Hall (yes, we still do the regular job, even during election time!), a long evening knocking on doors in the Uptown. But we made it to təməsew̓txʷ before polls closed for the day, and earned the stickers! #NewWest

Great last #Newwest Council meeting of the term last night. There was laughter, and there were tears, we got some business done, and we heard from a commmunity about what is important to them. Five stars, would recommend!
