Have candidates describe how much and what kinds of police misconduct they have observed during their career, if/how they addressed it, if they would choose differently today, and what a Supt should do to address it. +
i maintain my position that the only real goals here are about making money for already very rich people and devaluing labor and that should give everyone pause, as well

Pannier Peter 🚲@peter.dev · 2d agoAnyway a woman on her phone tried to turn left on a red arrow through the busy bike lane yesterday and I shouted at her to get off her fucking phone and then everyone clapped but nothing changed, standard bike ride bullshit. We had 4 Sunday afternoon downtown drivers try to turn through us 🫠
Dealing with this incident has taken 5+ years, and probably won't conclude this year. We're looking for a new superintendent and I want one holding their officers to the actual written standards instead of giving them a pass on firing at fleeing people.

The main thing Donald wants is to be remembered so Denail and I were talking about appropriate monuments to his presidency. I was thinking something about immigrants but Denail said we've got a small model monument here in Chicago. Just make it bigger and golden.
In my engineering degree I took history of witchcraft because it sounded fun to fulfill one of my history requirements and it was one of my best classes in undergrad, teaching me about feminism and the struggle people have had to be respected. It was good for teenage me to think about that.
I find it infuriating that nations who for decades have profited off the exploitation of immigrant labour, who have indeed engineered the conditions for that exploitation through making the countries of origin nigh unliveable, now dare to turn around and call migrants a drain. Absolutely maddening.

Random cycling fundraiser has borrowed both USA cycling and USA tri waiver forms to convince us not to sue.
Because I have an absentee landlord, and most remedies for that are letting you out of the lease, but I don't want to move I've looked into this too.
Soren Spicknall@sorenspicknall.bsky.social · 4d agoPeople often have a simplistic idea of how adverse possession works, and it works differently from one place to another, but ten years of open habitation without a written lease could actually meet the bar in some US states. England has a notification requirement that likely hasn't been met here.
It's almost as if the IRB oversight has little to do with protecting respondents....n/n
