"AI is only good if you have the money to afford the hardware to run it yourself" is not as class conscious as you think it is.
atproto oauth is actually extremely simple. all you have to do is resolve the handle to resolve the did to resolve the resource metadata to resolve the auth metadata to send the PAR to get the redirect_uri to get the code to get the refresh token to get the access token to make a request
Was literally just discussing this tonight, 100%
a weird inversion with LLMs is the models improve faster than the tinkerers when i see people with custom workflows and setups they're all addressing problems that don't exist anymore the person naively using vanilla codex is more likely to be experiencing state of the art
relatedly, tg now has an mcp server! still working on it, but it works quite well, and lets your agent read and write as it wishes across tangled: create repos, submit PRs, review PRs, search repositories, monitor your pipelines, etc. tangled.org/aly.codes/tg
okay sorry to my mcp-hating oomfs but I might be mcp-pilled

"This is AI" is funny, but "this isn't AI, they actually shot this as promotion for the movie" would be even funnier
i just don't think the slapdash moats and walls put up against AI generated content can hold as it continues to get better

Thomas Gazagnaire :: Rewriting Tailwind CSS in OCaml: Is It (Pixel-)Correct?
How do you know a second Tailwind compiler is right? Byte comparisons, then a CSS-aware diff, and finally Chrome comparing pixels, with mutation tests to check the checker. The oracles behind tw 1.1.0...

Jev is an extremely cheap and fast classifier that can replace long LLM prompts in your workflows with more deterministic answers and actions. I break down what that means, how it works and show several demos of Jev in action in my latest video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbYB...
"A counterculture does something else entirely. It finds the ungoverned space, builds the parallel system, and reaches the audience first. The mainstream is then forced to respond to something it had neither authorised nor understood." Great theory of change for science (and a lot of other fields)
Rewildpunk: The Counterculture AI Actually Needs by @abiawomosu.bsky.social: Plurality over monoculture. Relationship over command. Local usefulness over universal scale. Human judgement over automatic optimisation. And infrastructure people can shape & steward, over platforms they merely consume
this is potentially a spicy take but i think i'm way more excited at the thought of a scrappy open web where apps are coming up with niche/specific lexicons vs a heavily standardised one where custom lexicons are discouraged in favour of maximal interop 🧐
