It's got to the stage where if 'you don't know anyone whose voting for Reform' you need to broaden your social circle. Or, perhaps, reflect on what it is about your behaviour that means your friends don't feel able to be open with you about politics.

Imagine if BBC spent as much time on the dangers of climate collapse as they do on immigration. Imagine the public response when they realise what the real danger is to our children & who is causing it. Instead of anger at refugees there’d be anger at oil companies, media bosses, politicians & BBC.

JK Rowling tweeting got a boycott of M&S, stretching facts to the breaking point, and making the world a worse place for absolutely everyone.

Right-wing billionaires continue to funnel money into Substack. The Chernin Group? Owned by Rupert Murdoch's former right-hand man. If you're on Substack, you're on the platform equivalent of News Corp.

The funding, which is the company’s series C round, was led by investors at technology investment firm BOND and Peter Chernin’s The Chernin Group. Other participants include VC firm Andreessen Horowitz; Rich Paul, CEO and founder of Klutch Sports Group; and Jens Grede, CEO and co-founder of Skims, the apparel company co-founded by Kim Kardashian. The round values Substack at $1.1 billion and brings its total funding to date to about $200 million.

AI boosters get mad when I describe LLMs as "Spicy Autocomplete." Sure, it's a bit reductionist ("stochastic parrot" is more precise), but it's far worse for people to see LLMs as "ineffable superintelligence," as WSJ did by claiming ChatGPT expressed "self reflection." No, it didn't.

The harsh truth is that computer literacy peaked more or less contemporaneously with the infamous "series of tubes" incident, because as computer interfaces got better most ppl stopped learning anything about how they work. But as computers & algos get better, this ignorance gets more dangerous.

Apart from anything else, I promise that your creative solution is one adult creators have already thought of. We too have brains. We probably also know more about the law, platform rules, and what is possible. If porn bans could be solved with one clever idea, we’d have done it long ago.
