Reminded today that the Daily Mail once called me (genuinely) "a hazard to public health" for the depictions of violence in The Knife of Never Letting Go. And not, as everyone thinks, for the epidemic of typhus I started.

I made up a writing schedule for myself for August yesterday, when I was apparently feeling both invincible and a time traveler. Today, I am merely mortal with a three-month old daughter, so there have been schedule revisions...

Let's talk about JK Rowling's 'bearded men'... I want to vent something that's been on my mind: The way transphobic groups and individuals are also actively homophobic. I've experienced it first hand, and know many others have too. 1/

You only have to look at the veneration of the recently deceased Rod Liddle by prominent women in the "gender critical" movement (Kathleen Stock, Rosie Duffield etc.) to know that their claim to be "protecting women" is utter nonsense.

Rod Liddle called his ex-wife a “slut and a slattern” in print before marrying a 22-year old Spectator receptionist who he was cautioned by the police after assaulting her when she was 20 weeks pregnant. But he was anti-trans, so these “protectors of women” overlook everything.

The two republicans were both defeated in primaries by Trump backed candidates. When Trump finally goes, there’ll be so many republicans who’ll say “We always knew he was unhinged.” Don’t let them be absolved. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...

Trump Threatens to Withdraw Blanche as Attorney General, Dealing Blow to Nomination

As someone with OCD, I find apps with streaks really hard to deal with. I had to forcibly break a 1,000 day streak on the New York Times Crossword puzzle because it was feeling like a prison. Don’t get me started on Duolingo. For someone with OCD, Duolingo is a nasty bully.
