Today marks an important step forward for crane operators in B.C. We're expanding Skilled Trades Certification to tower and mobile crane operators, recognizing their expertise, strengthening safety standards and helping build the skilled workforce our province needs. #LookWestBC #SkilledTrades

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 There’s never been a better time to celebrate what unites us. Our strength isn’t in the challenges we face, but in the way we come together to meet them. Today we celebrate our sovereignty, our shared values, & the enduring pride that comes with calling this country home.
I’m in Ottawa today with one message: BC knows what BC needs. We’re building homes, hospitals, and a stronger economy, but we need Ottawa to restore our Provincial Nominee Program, which was cut in half last year. It’s time to give us the tools to get the job done. Let’s get to work. 🏗️
HISTORY IN VANCOUVER 🙌 Canada's 6️⃣-goal performance vs. Qatar marked the highest-scoring game by #CANMNT at the #FIFAWorldCup EVER. 😳
Last week, we announced 256 new skilled trades training seats at Okanagan College & more than 1,000 across the region. These new seats will help students train for good-paying careers close to home, while strengthening our workforce & growing BC’s economy. That’s what Look West is all about.
Delighted to welcome post-secondary Minister @jessieksunner.bsky.social to UBC Okanagan today and introduce her to faculty, students & staff part of our successful new Master of Biotechnology program + School of Nursing. Grateful for the visit and the strong support from the Province of BC!
With major projects across B.C. in clean energy, critical minerals, and construction, we’re making sure people in B.C. are first in line for those jobs with 5,000 new trades training seats, and the biggest commitment B.C. has ever made in the trades. strongerbc.gov.bc.ca/skilled-trades-training/
This week marks Creative Industries Week, celebrating the people and industries that help tell BC’s story to the world. To celebrate, I recently visited the set for Allegiance, a powerful show showcasing Surrey, its diversity, strength, and real stories. I highly recommend! 🎬
Barefoot, pregnant, and in the @bclegislature.bsky.social where we belong!! Another historic first for BC: Not one, but TWO Cabinet Ministers simultaneously expecting. 🤰🤰 @jessieksunner.bsky.social
Throughout BC, streets will fill with community spirit and colour as Sikh families and friends gather to celebrate Vaisakhi. Vaisakhi marks the founding of the Khalsa in 1699 – and remains one of the most sacred and joyous days in the Sikh calendar. (1/8)
Happy Vaisakhi! 🧡 A day full of seva, sangat, community, and so much pride in who we are. Always one of the best days of the year, and so proud to share it with my @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social colleagues.
Donald Trump’s loss is British Columbia’s gain. Thousands of US doctors, nurses and health professionals are applying to work in BC, because our system is based on the needs of the patient — not their ability to pay. BC now has more doctors per person than anywhere else in Canada.
April is Sikh Heritage Month, a time to honour the history, resilience, and contributions of Sikh communities across Canada. Rooted in the principles of seva, sarbat da bhala, and standing up for justice, Sikh values have shaped generations through service to community. Happy Sikh Heritage Month!
So we're: 🧑⚕️ Increasing UBC med school to 328 seats 🩺 Adding dozens of nurse practitioner training seats across BC 🏥 Building BC's first new medical school in 76 years at SFU Surrey. (4/6)
We've been laser-focused on increasing access to family medicine - and it's having an impact. We've attached 600,000 British Columbians to a family doctor or nurse practitioner since 2023. (1/6)
April is Construction and Skilled Trades Month in B.C. We’re proud to celebrate the apprentices, tradespeople, educators, unions, and employers building our communities and powering our province’s future.
Eid Mubarak! 🌙✨ To everyone celebrating, may your day be filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments with the people who matter most. Feeling really thankful to have been included in the joy of today. ❤️
BC is here for healthcare workers to practice If the U.S. won't value you for your skills and job, you will be valued in British Columbia. Healthcare is a major priority for us to work on in BC. We will recruit U.S. nurses and doctors to join us in BC #bcpoli #britishcolumbia
We’re grateful to Minister @jessieksunner.bsky.social and MLA @amnashahbc.bsky.social for taking the time to tour The Centre this morning. We were excited to introduce them to our services made possible by our funders at MCFD and programs like Sophie’s Place, Casting & Splinting, Feeding Team...
I was honoured to join Minister @jessieksunner.bsky.social, local MLA @christineboyle.bsky.social & our partners from SkilledTradesBC at Eric Hamber Secondary School to celebrate 3 remarkable students who are pursuing their own pathways of skilled trade. Congratulations! @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social
As a human rights lawyer, I’ve seen the real harm discrimination causes when it goes unchecked. Yesterday in the legislature, I spoke about why defending B.C.’s Human Rights Code matters - and made one thing clear: the women in this House are anything but “meek”.
This is how the BC Conservatives characterize women Ministers in the Cabinet. Happy International Women’s Week to everyone except Gavin Dew I guess.
Today, we celebrate the achievements of women and girls and reaffirm our commitment to building a better, more inclusive future. Let’s reflect on how best we can all move forward to contributing to end gender discrimination in its many forms. #IWD26
Great evening at “From Hate to Hope” with BC Human Rights Commissioner, Kasari Govender. At a time when the world feels increasingly divided and human rights are under attack in many places, including our own legislature, exhibits like this remind us why defending them matters so deeply.
We’ve introduced the Post-Secondary International Education (Designated Institutions) Act, to establish Education Quality Assurance standards in law, strengthen oversight, and bolster enforcement tools against bad actors. Stronger accountability. Better outcomes for students.
What a wonderful evening, coming together with our union brothers, sisters, and friends at Unifor to celebrate Lunar New Year. Community is our strength. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Horse! 🐎🧧✨
The drivers licensing system in BC needs to work for everyone. We’re creating a simpler, more accessible process, while maintaining high safety standards on our roads. These changes will help new drivers build safe behaviours and reduce barriers to earning a full licence.
As we kick off the first day of the Spring session, I am proud to do this work with a team always committed to fighting for working people and building a B.C. where everyone can succeed! ❤️
We joined the BC Building Trades to honour the workers who lost their lives in 1981 from the Bentall Tower IV construction tragedy. @brendavancouver.bsky.social @georgechow.bsky.social @mlajroutledge.bsky.social @j-blatherwick-mla.bsky.social @jessieksunner.bsky.social @rajchouhanbc.bsky.social
Proud to support the Khalsa Aid Clothing Drive earlier this winter. As the colder months continue, consider donating new and/or gently-used clothing or resources to your local community organizations supporting those in need. Every small act makes a difference. 🧡
