About last night …. Metrobar was hopping with transit enthusiasts and #TranspoBINGO fans celebrating Metro’s 50th birthday. We had fun in the railcar bar and mingling with transit celebs. Anyone catch Randy Clarke riding metro?
I hope to make it out for a selfie and share a bigger metro memory, but I do find RIA funny to me. I grew up MD side redline but I believe I only been to RIA bc of the DMV, that’s right I took the metro to take care of driving things and yes I was still legally able to drive.

I have endless metro memories! Pic 1 is of the first time my family visited DC in 2012 and took metro (clearly they enjoyed)! I also took 🚇 the day Marty joined me in calling DC home in 2018, and every #TranspoBingo since has been a joy! I also took students, my bike, and so many things on metro!

Selfie at Rhode Island Ave Metro while the party was hopping. So many Metro memories, often with the kids. The chaotic rides when we’re all together, bike on the bus, and Metro to shop local! #TranspoBINGO

RIA is my local station, so I didn't ride to the station, but I did walk. When we moved to DC many years ago, I preceded my wife by several months. When she officially moved, I welcomed her to town with a SmarTrip card. #TranspoBINGO

Turning 50 today has us feeling a bit nostalgic. 🥹🤎 It’s been an honor of a lifetime being America’s Metro system. 🚇🚍🚐 Here’s to the next 50 years! 🥳
Also omw there I took part of my old commute from Kingman to Union Station by streetcar. RIP, random people were bonding over bidding it farewell during our ride. Transit connects people to each other and their city! #TranspoBingo

We crossed water + state lines and then pub rolled to Rock It Grill, Alexandria Bier Garden & Good Fortune rooftop bar. We ❤️ public and active tranportation!
Great fun was had by all! So many takeaways, but a big one was that vre is only $5 and quick in getting from union station to Alexandria! We also rode the free Trolley bus down King St, which was a delight!

The protected bike lane on 15th street keeps the people in our city safer. Join me in asking the National Park Service to reconsider their decision.
VRE and boats, what more could you want?! This will also continue my month-long streak of visiting Alexandria once a week, which is super out of character for me!

I think it'll be possible to do two free 5Ks in a row next Saturday morning without a car. Anacostia parkrun at 9 am then Metro to Freedom Plaza for the 10 am Herstory 5K. You should come.
