📣 My lab at NYU currently has two open post-doc positions. We are interested in understanding perception, thinking, and hallucinations. We employ a range of cutting-edge techniques in human neuroscience (e.g., 7T fMRI, MEG, iEEG/DES) and computational approaches (e.g., DNN modeling).

New preprint! Have you ever wanted to measure psychometric functions in high-dimensional stimulus spaces, but realised that this is infeasible? We present and validate a technique to adaptively estimate psychometric functions for stimulus spaces up to 50 dimensions. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Adaptive experiments in high-dimensional feature spaces: A particle filtering approach

Behavioral experiments are often infeasible when stimulus spaces have many dimensions or when testing time is limited. One way to address this challenge is adaptive stimulus selection, where informati...

heading home to London from #CCN2026 @cogcompneuro.bsky.social after fantastic conference, 2 amazing satellites: Comp Consciousness Sci organized by @lintonvision.bsky.social & our own #MetaCogSci w/ @luciecharlesneuro.bsky.social, @dobyrahnev.bsky.social & @smfleming.bsky.social in absentia.

One of the biggest limitations of today’s VR headsets is the vergence-accommodation conflict (VAC). Most approaches try to solve it with new hardware. Our new paper asks a different question: Can we compensate for it computationally instead? 🧵

New paper alert from our lab! nature.com/articles/s41... We used stimuli sequences following 1/f statistical patterns—an ubiquitous statistical structure in natural stimuli—to probe predictive processing in the human brain. How does the brain predict upcoming sensory inputs based on past inputs?

Neural mechanisms of time-forward predictions for naturalistic auditory tone sequences - Nature Communications

A longstanding question is how the brain predicts complex, naturalistic sensory events and updates those predictions when expectations are violated. Using intracranial recordings, the authors show tha...

The hippocampus sits at the interface of perception & memory, allowing us to link past, present, & future through its role in generating predictions. Excited to share this theme issue in @royalsociety.org's Philosophical Transactions B, co-edited with @barense.bsky.social & @mariamaly.bsky.social
