My kid has started a Letterboxd list called Killer Sweaters for films where the killer wears a great sweater and they've asked me to throw it out to Bluesky for more because "that's the kind of thing those weirdos like to do"
I think perhaps it would be easier if you avoided the situation you mention for your book, unless you are intending a psychological novel, & a fairly warped lot of people.
I absolutely adore King Of The Rumbling Spires by T(yrannosaurus) Rex but I've never heard another song by them that comes close to its strange majesty. Dislike the meandering "inky toes of winter" whimsy and have no interest in the "Annabel on a carousel" pop stuff. youtu.be/7DXdVN02rL4?...

‘Quentin Tarantino’s first play’ feels less of a sales pitch than a cutting insult a particularly savage English teacher might give
1. This looks utterly dreadful. 2. The film's original tagline was "The name you know, the story you don't" but this just appears to be another version of A Christmas Carol. youtu.be/l_Ozo1xUgbU?...

A ★★★½ review of Dune (2021)
What is the point of adaptation? Watching Dune pt 1 while still being midway through the book I’m very close to the material, and it’s both remarkably faithful and visually utterly spectacular. There ...

I have also just listened to this. So many points of crossover with my own Merseyside upbringing. The Colditz moment made me well up as well.
Odd This Day@oddthisday.bsky.social · 2d agoJust caught up with this. A mate of mine from university, who’s an actor, knows him, so I can confirm (albeit second hand) that the genuinely good guy he comes across as is the real him. Worth a listen
Not sure why The Dark Horse in South Norwood is Nico’s favourite pub. Might be all the CAMRA awards or might be the fusses and the treats.
Finding them online currently involves VPNs and "the best free streaming sites" but it's worth the effort*. These shows are magnificent. If anyone wants to reissue them on 4k I'll happily write the liner-notes. *The Westerner is currently on Youtube.
Andrew Male@andrewmale.bsky.social · 2d agoThanks to 70s shows like Bonanza and The High Chaparral I'd always assumed TV westerns were dreary soap operas. So imagine my surprise to discover that The Westerner (1960) Have Gun Will Travel (1957) and Gunsmoke (1953) are brutal, morally ambiguous allegorical dramas about a doomed America!

Update: Hank’s tooth operation went well (two rotten gnashers removed) and he is a much happier cat as a result.
Andrew Male@andrewmale.bsky.social · 5d agoHank has a very serious tooth infection (he's off to the vets tomorrow), but I'm sure it's just a coincidence that his sister Hildy has spent the morning supporting cuddling him and letting him rest his painful jaw against her head.
