Trump’s war on Iran has cost the equivalent of Ghana’s entire national debt (US$ 37.5 billion). Ghana’s annual debt repayments are five times its combined health & education budgets. He could have arrested a whole nation’s underdevelopment. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

‘Shameful’: Pentagon accused of cover-up over US military casualties in Iran war

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Apologies if I sound angry, but it is a real problem that the 'smart' commentary on this war is trying hard to avoid the core lesson ("the president is a fucking moron") because it doesn't sound very clever when it is absolutely the most important takeaway from this debacle.

Very pleased to see this out in paperback. Unfortunately it remains as pertinent as ever, as right wing populists continue to deny, disavow and distort the colonial past (and present). Read what the experts say!

I gave my usual sermon on this the other day. Non-scientists look for studies that support their hypothesis. But there are studies that show almost anything if you look hard enough. Citing one or two studies isn’t research. It’s confirmation bias.

RFK Jr. asked the National Institute of Health to dedicate $5 billion (!) to finding a link between vaccines and autism. "That would have dedicated more than a tenth of the NIH’s annual budget to investigating a hypothesis already refuted by scientists worldwide."

I was just asked what is a ‘grass contract’ in a quote. A month ago, I wouldn’t have known the answer. But after reading another archive and seeing the huge amount of dodder contracts and disputes - there is a space for a budding historian to look at logistics of colonial power

By using lethal means to stop narco vessels in SOUTHCOM, the U.S. has completely ruined its ability to hold the high ground when Iran does the same in Hormuz. We view these artificial theaters as separate when they’re not. There’s no plan, let alone a strategy.

Last night Ukraine could not intercept a single Russian ballistic missile. The USA deliberately starving Ukraine of Patriot missiles is now clearly understood by the Russians as American support for their terror bombing. The USA is helping Putin kill Ukrainians.

This is the logical culmination of the idiotic ‘balance sheet’ view of colonialism with railways & the English lang put in the credit column though they were instruments of efficient exploitation. And why we need to make study of colonialism mandatory at school & uni. #colonialism #empire #history
