Only the Penitent Moviewatcher Will Pass. Cinephilia for remorseful cinephiliacs by @jamesdavidpatrick.bsky.social, @houseofglib.bsky.social, and @krismyers.bsky.social. Confess your shame. Podcasting on iTunes/Spotify/etc.

Well, it’s invoicing day, and since they’re really apparently not going to pay me for something I wrote for them two months ago, I guess today is the day to post about how @vulture.com fucks over its film freelancers. Long (sorry) thread, with receipts:

There are 118 feature films, plus galas, talks, podcast recordings, and more at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Our guide to the movies and events worth lining up for.

In related news, @jamesdavidpatrick.bsky.social told me he's finished editing our first episode of the new @cinemashame.bsky.social season, which means I have to get started on the one Ken recorded with us over a month ago.

I had the Secret Galaxy video playing in the background as I was working yesterday and was surprised when out of the corner of my eye I saw @kennethwreid.bsky.social's photo onscreen because they use a clip of his episode with Ben Edlund.

My first ever trip to the U.S. was when I stayed with Eva in Burbank in 2014. We've lost touch since then but I'm always happy hearing about the good work she's been doing. The news of her assault is not something I wanted to hear today. Please donate if you can.

Me, looking tough with Eva Woods and Derek Wood (no relation and no typo).

Eva Woods is a tireless community leader in Los Angeles who has, for years, spearheaded care for our neighbors in MacArthur Park. She was recently assaulted and needs help to pay for extensive medical bills. If you can support, friends have organized a GoFundMe: www.gofundme.com/f/support-a-...

James and Allan just found out there's a Cinema Shame IMDb page. We have no idea how it came into existence, but Allan is annoyed because he actually has an IMDb profile page (thanks to a past guest of the show) but it's not credited to any of the episodes.

Cort always had a special childlike quality that came across in many of his roles. Though he was nothing like my real dad, I always imagined that if they ever made a movie about my life, he'd get that role (with Kim Darby as my mom). I feel like he was too idiosyncratic to ever hold onto stardom--

Awhile back I got to talk face to face for the first time with Rod Lott, my first American friend. Our reason for the chat was to discuss his first time watch of HAROLD & MAUDE. In it we both marveled at how good But Cort was in his most iconic and defining role.

ICYMI, last night I started preparing for our upcoming 1985/1986 @cinemashame.bsky.social Shamedown Battle Royale by live-posting my first time watch of a movie where the hot chick from the Whitesnake music videos falls in love with a "bubble boy" from FAME. It features A LOT of naked Tawny.

I'm gonna start doing quick reviews of my Cinema Shame watches on Letterboxd for no other reason than I struggled to remember anything I watched last year, which made doing the Shamelies a bit difficult.
