A foe is someone whose aims are against your own. A nemesis is someone you have enough in common with that your opposite aims make you aware of the different path your life could have taken if you were a bigger piece of shit. I loathe JD Vance because I understand him.

If it's not a good movie that's fine, but I genuinely don't understand why people are upset with the mere premise of ONE NIGHT ONLY. People are acting like it's offensive that the plot was even considered when it's not. It's just a speculative fiction idea. There's nothing wrong with that.

Arguing that the Dems who supported Stevens in the primary will now vote for the GOP candidate suggests that Stevens shouldn't have been the Dem nominee if her base is happy to support the status quo and help keep the GOP machine in power.

Honestly, I feel like a fierce internecine battle between the Nolan film bros and the Kubrick film bros would be really cleansing for the community at large.

Boomers grew up at a time where Westerns were the dominant escapist genre and it was rooted enough in reality that they didn't feel childish as they kept returning to it. Gen X and millennials watched fantasies made to sell toys and now struggle because that toyetic component never went away.

last night we saw the Lifetime version of FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC, and I gotta give it up to them for somehow making it even sleazier and more uncomfortable than the theatrical one from the ‘80s

We didn't have one, but I did read Trivial Pursuit cards for fun and would go through the Leonard Maltin Film Guide from beginning to end, like it was a novel.
