I RAGED at this on the radio yesterday, and will repeat my mantra: you cannot (MUST NOT) ask people to develop 'resilience' or 'grit' against those things that are in your power to change. 'Develop resilience' so often means 'your disability is inconveniencing me, please be less disabled' 🧵

It is also notable that the predominantly working class students at CCNY were subjected to more extreme police violence, including tasering, pepper spray, smashed teeth, and a broken ankle.

The police violence at City College was more intense than at Columbia (although one police office did discharge a firearm during the operation to retake Hamilton Hall). There are reports of numerous students and faculty members being tasered and pepper-sprayed by police officers on the Harlem campus. Two students had their teeth smashed and one undergraduate’s ankle was broken. (The NYPD’s press office declined to comment, but referred me to a press conference given by Mayor Eric L. Adams and Police Commissioner Edward A. Caban the morning after the arrests in which Adams blamed a global “movement to radicalize young people” for the violence.) The City College administration was unavailable to comment at time of publication.

The BBC keep doing this. This isn't true. This is straightforwardly wrong in law. The ruling *only* applied to the Equality Act 2010. Trans women are still legally women for the vast majority of purposes! That's the whole point of the Gender Recognition Act. I've put in a complaint. So can you.

Her remarks come after a Supreme Court ruling that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex. The Welsh government said it was "carefully considering" the court's decision.

Reality of being disabled. But the government and media will lie and push propaganda, exactly as the nazis did, that disabled people are a burden on the state. As i said before, disabled people were the nazis FIRST target to m*rder en masse. And too many seem to be ignoring that fact.

Lads I've got a book out the day after tomorrow. This is it, this is the fanfare. To be fair it's a re-release rather than a brand new story, but I updated it and wrote a foreword and everything, and it's got a new cover. It's called Too Close To Home. It's lovable.

As someone who smoked for a year or two (not very much and long ago), I think the uptick in ADHD diagnoses over the last 25 years is largely because when cigarettes were in vogue, chainsmoking was a decent way to self-med for it. Sure it kills you, but raw ADHD feels like your skeleton wants out.

This is a seminal moment: a Labour government cutting disability benefits. Not just continuing Tory levels. Cutting. This comes after a week of speculation, itself an act of cruelty by a government toying with people’s dignity. These cuts are disgraceful - and they will cost lives.
